Broken part
this is on the drivers side, broken, a similar unbroken part on the passenger side. What function does it perform, I've searched the web with negative results. I confident that one of our esteemed owners will have an answer.

If its what I think it is its a suspension position sensor for the stability control and adaptive suspension system(s). Could be wrong though.
Edit:
Might be this

Thank you, I think this is it. Very important part of the active suspension system. I'm waiting for Jaguar Paramus to set a date for my Jag. I have a differential bearing whine, this problem and a clunk noise from the rear. I sent them this photo and my mechanic write-up on the bearing whine. Thanks again for your quick and correct assessment.

I had the same issue. We took the arm off & glued it together. I never had any warning lights.
A quick update: Jaguar Paramus said this broken part not covered by warranty, that it was damaged by contact with? I said that I didn't see any visual signs of contact and that it would be highly unlikely that a object from the road would contact this part without signs of impact. I said revisit the assessment and that I would have to see visual signs of impact to accept their assessment. They were also inspecting differential for a whine, they said listening they heard normal gear and bearing noise. They must document noise from outside of car to send to JLR for approval for differential change. Rear thump when turning left uphill grade they couldn't duplicate. I will not accept their assessment for the broken part and will drive the technician or forman for a ride to duplicate differential whine and thump and have them decribe how they listened to the dif from outside of car. Can JLR authorize another dealer for assessment and second opinion?
thanks

What you describe sounds like a dealership that doesn't want to do any warranty work. They will keep inventing excuses to deny your warranty claims. While you can succeed in forcing them, doing so will always be an uphill battle. More so, if they choose to be nasty and write something like "signs of abuse" in the report, you will have very hard time securing warranty work anywhere else.
If you purchased the car at this dealership, pull in your salesperson to advocate for you. Otherwise consider taking the car elsewhere for service.

Frank my16 s coupe. A quick update: after looking at the broken part again and mentioning it to my mechanic he asked if it was on a rollback and I remembered that in 8/19 it was sent to me from Glen cove JLR and the truck operator used hooks on the suspension when he unhooked the car. I called corporate and relayed the complete information on the delivery and they opened a case file. Now it makes perfect sense on how it was broken. Now the question is “why wasn’t there a error code” for a suspension position sensor for stability control and adaptive suspension system that was broken? Technician didn’t give a conclusive answer when asked. Part is in and appointment is next Thursday

Just want to share my experience with regards to the “Thump” sound you described. I had the same issue with a slow start turn and hearing a thump. I was doing a little research and came across a similar complaint on a European Jaguar forum. He described the sound and I quote “ muffled noise sounds like a bass drum through a bass bin.” My dealership was able to reproduce it and determined to be coming from the differential. They tried changing the fluid but no luck. Next they did a flush service and the sound disappeared. The service required two separate flushes per the tech. Hope this information can help.
I don't know for sure, but I had a similar part on my Porsche 911 TT (which I broke swapping a ball joint)... it was only on one side and was a sensor for changing the angle of adaptive headlights... If it is on BOTH sides then it is part of suspension position monitoring.... the former not so important but the latter certainly is...

Update on broken part. It is the ride height sensor for dynamic suspension control system, I opened a case with JLR corporate. I relayed all the information I had from 8/2019 regarding how it was damaged by the operator using metal hooks when bringing onto the roll back. The bracket was bent/broken toward front of car. The car was returned to me after service. I’m happy to report that JLR sent me a Owner Loyalty Certificate for cost of repair. A very good outcome from a unfortunate repair.
