I did not see this answered above? I upgraded my cheapo ELM327 BT adapter and got the OBDLink MX+.

It's about $100. I also have a Lincoln MKS Ecoboost so I wanted access the the MS and HS CAN buses. This is the only adapter that can do this without an external switch. If you use Forscan you will know why that's useful on Fords. I plan to leave it hooked up all the time and this unit has a power down mode after 2 hours of non use. Hoping to avoid any battery problems with this feature. It also claims to be the fastest BT adapter out there so your data is updated quicker than other adapters.

I got a cheap used Android 8" tablet just for the car with a windshield mount. I got it working on my Iphone and the Android tablet but so far only using the OBDLink software which is pretty nice. But I want to use Cambo's great custom Jaguar PID's (Thanks again!). The problem is I don't have or want a Goggle account so am having problems on where to buy the Torque Pro App besides the play store?

Any suggestions?

Found out if you add APK to what you are searching for you usually can find it to download for free.
Playing with Torque Pro and it does a lot. I will spend more time with it for sure.

However, my preference would be for an old fashioned oil pressure gauge.

 

The blanking plug shown top left in this photo goes directly into the main oil gallery and can be replaced with a fitting suitable for an oil pressure gauge.


Or you can adapt a filter housing, not as nice visually but way easier.

 

Yes can you believe it? There is no way to actually measure oil pressure on a stock 5.0L Jaguar!
Thankfully several very knowledgeable guys like kansasbrit have figured out where to tap in.

Since I see that fitting on the oil cap are you running a gauge in the car? Or is it just used for diagnostics?
On your picture what are those 2 black things on the side of the block?



Or is that used only on the AWD version off the 5.0L?

I reckon those two black things are the high pressure fuel pumps.
And no Jag ever came with AWD and the 5.0, Land Rovers and Range Rovers yes but not Jag.

 

Black items are in fact the high pressure fuel pumps. I just use gauge connected to the oil filter housing to check oil pressure on rebuilt engine as below:

I agree with you, but that's only the "tip of the iceberg". The only gauges you have available on the dashboard are coolant temperature, which is better than an idiot light, and a fuel gauge.
In 2013 I bought a brand new Nissan GT-R....that car buried you with gauges and information....oil temp, oil pressure, coolant temp, boost pressure, etc. Nine different pieces of information about the car, all showing on one media screen. It was outstanding if you were a motor head. I also had two Z06 Corvettes, a 2016 and a 2018. Both had the same gauge packages, all right in front of you...oil pressure, coolant temp, boost pressure, oil temp, etc. I received a call from JLR after buying my 2021 F type asking me various questions and what I didn't like. I brought up the lack of gauges and he responded that this car appeals to "refined" type groups of people and they really don't want to see or use all those gauges. They just aren't necessary with the majority of owners (maybe just like not having an oil dipstick...oh, how messy).
I'm just glad to hear that I'm not in a huge minority that misses seeing what their car is feeling!

 

I would certainly like to see another option on the gauge cluster, like between the speedometer and tach when you choose the two dial display. It would be great to have an oil pressure and oil temp gauge along with amps displayed there. The gauges could be electronic, maybe along the lines of what the Torque Pro app displays look like.

 

I agree with you and laughed at Jaguar's statement about "refined" people!
What he really meant was we don't want you mucking around with the car and most of our customers don't have the brains or inclination to do anything except take it to the dealer!

But that's just where we are going as anybody that does any repairs is being closed out. You simply need to understand you are a user ONLY! Throw away what you have and purchase another new one from us. Buy another new trinket and don't worry your pretty little head about repairing anything. Heck we are even seeing reports that Jaguar itself won't work on cars 10+ years or older! That is just confusing to me? Why would the manufacturer not support the older models? Kind of a sign that jaguar has a lack of faith in their own product?

Is it Jaguar or the dealers that won't work on 10+ year old cars? IMO, once the car is beyond 4 or 5 it's sensible to find a decent independent to do better work on the car for a lower price. That's in the UK, things may be different in other markets.

 

Well we only can talk to the dealers so I can't say what Jaguar corporate wants to do. That would be interesting to hear!
Yes the independent is probably the best here in the US too but what if you just need to get it repaired and you have no knowledge of the local experts? Then you go to the local Jaguar dealer and he tells you they don't work on those models anymore?

Kind of like this forum? We have many detailed repair threads but you constantly see people asking the same already answered questions over and over. They won't even look at the stickies at the top of the forum either.
