Default Car coming out of storage question

Hey,

I know there are competing ideas out there about whether or not just starting the car up after 6 month of storage is okay (i.e. After never having been started even once the whole time)...You know, the whole conversation about it possibly being a good idea to move some oil around prior to doing a full-on start etc...

In any case, one suggestion I am aware of is to pull the fuse for the fuel pump and then attempt to start the car until the oil light goes off the dash, indicating there is good oil pressure, and then starting after fuse replacement etc...

Has anyone here ever specifically done this? Could/would doing that possibly lead to other codes being thrown perhaps? In your experience? Thoughts?

I don't yet have a code reader, so I was curious if anyone has any thoughts to offer, concrete or otherwise...

Thanks so much

I took my battery maintainer off and hit the starter button.

this may not specifically answer your question but the way I see it starting it once a year after storage will have little wear and tear after 10 years

DMeister, this is what I’ve always done as well, with each of the three cars I put to bed for the winter. I’ve never had any issues, but do make sure to let them get plenty warm before driving off. Your suggestion is very pretty creative, did you hear that method on this forum?

Hey - three guys from Ontario chiming in . I guess there are at least three F Types in the GTA - I rarely see them in the wild (only one last summer).

Thanks!

My buddy has a 2009 Aston Martin V8 Vantage. That car has some sequence you do where it will do exactly what I'm trying to achieve without starting his car. It is built into how the car works for that explicit purpose of moving oil around ahead of starting after long periods of storage. Don't imagine they've done that on the Aston for no reason, and my buddy says it makes complete sense to consider this after longer storage. To me it makes some sense too...

So, yeah, it does not seem that our cars have a similar explicit function for doing that. After a little research around I did see this idea of inactivating the fuel pump suggested in general...Not necessarily specific to the F-type...

It seems like most around here don't necessarily think that it is even an issue to worry about, and that you should just start it...I was just wondering if there might be anyone that does care, and that have done what I'm saying...My bud just mentioned that is could POSSIBLY throw a code, not for sure...

How long is yours stored typically, and do you not start it at all the whole time you are storing?
