Default Car and Driver review of F-type coupe

Great review of the F-type coupe R in April's Car and Driver. Very favorable, very fast (0-60 in 3.5 sec., 11.8 in the 1/4 mile), they've compared it to Porsche Turbo in performance at 1/3 less price. I'm sure this is the first of many such reviews to come

Very respectable performance numbers. Sounds like I'm making the right choice in saving for the R.

In fairness, they aren't that different to the V8s. Mags are reporting mid to high threes on the 0-60 and one member here has posted a V8s timeslip showing 11.8 and 11.9 for the quarter mile.

3.5sec 0-60 I will believe when somebody confirmed that through testing. Those are lofty numbers for a front engine rear wheel drive car.
A 911 turbo S with only 3600lbs AWD, rear engine (weight on top of the rear wheels), more HP and PDK launch (which destroys any Jaguar launch control) gets 3.1 seconds.
I see nothing in the traction of the R that would give it such an advantage over the XKR-S other than the launch control.

911 Turbo S has tested below three seconds. The best time I can recall was around 2.7 seconds

Motortrend tested the V8S few months back and it sprinted to 60 in 3.4 seconds, while Jaguar advertises it at 4.2.

I believe the F type R will be beat the 3.4 easily.

At 99k these cars minus ceramic brakes of course will be great deals in summer 2016... At which time they will be eclipsed by something newer/faster but close to 4.0 and likely under 4... Who needs faster!!! XKRS is crazy fast and rated slower. used, 2 yr old low low mile f-type R I patiently await thee!!
