Cel Catalytic Converter SVR
I went to the dealership after I got a CEL and went into restricted mode. Stated it was catalytic converter code and needs to replace it…which will take 2 weeks. Only 27k miles on a 2017 SVR which would be unusual but not unheard of. The code was cleared and it runs fine now. Question is, should I park it while waiting for the part or can I still drive it. It seems like its operating normally now. Was hoping it was just a misfire that caused the code while in Dynamic, but code was specifically for the cats.
Generally with codes like this that don't portend potentially catastrophic engine damage, I will clear them and see if they recur. Catalytic convertors like to be heated up and blown out, a spirited drive might prove helpful.
Others have used products like CataClean (I use Oxycat) to clean out the cat converters and the general exhaust system, works for me and some others here have said it also works for them. One or two recent threads nearby about this.
Dead easy just pour a bottle in the fuel tank and not all that expensive, definitely worth a try.
