Check engine light? Fixed! Got rear-ended right after...
Well, I wish I had a better update.
After being annoyed by the check engine light for a bit and being told by Jaguar San Diego NOT to come in (ahem), I decided to turn the car in. Took them about 3 days to replace a catalytic converter (left one, I think), got the car back Friday, 8/11, drove it for a day aaaaaaaand...got smashed into by a Ukrainian guy in a Ford Taurus, who got rear-ended by an Arabic guy in a Camry. A very internaitonal accident. F Type's bumper got a few scratches, but doesn't look bad. Hit my head on the headrest, went to the ER. Concussion, but not terrible, no CT scan needed. So, after not driving my Shaguar for a bit, I am currently well, not driving it for some more. So...how's everyone doing? |
Son of a b....!
Tough luck - so sorry to hear - but glad it's not worse; and it could always be worse (and you sound like you still have a sense of humor). |
Can you imagine that poor Ukrainian guy- he was in two accidents, front and rear, and as Scaramoucci would say, nearly s'ed his own c.

Glad you and the F-Type are (mostly) OK. Be sure and check my thread on Diminished Value. Sounds more similar than different to my incident. Drive down for the eclipse and I'll buy you a beer for the headache and hook you up with my shop & appraiser.

Sad news. Hope you aren't hurting too badly and getting well quickly. The bumper foundation and skin are an easy fix.

Thanks for the support, my friends. It's not terrible, the damage does not seem great at all...coincidentally, has anyone here had to replace a catalytic converter so soon into the ownership (11 months)?

Bummer man! 11 months seems crazy early for a cat to go bad. I saved uncheel's thread for future reference. I hope this is the only time I have to use it!

Sympathies! I just avoided the same fate but the truck behind me was hefty enough to the take the hit of a texting airhead.

Sounds like you got slammed pretty hard. Any damage at all the either quarter panel? I would be surprised if there is none.
Still, the cat being replaced at 11K miles is amazing to me... |

There doesn't seem to be, no. Got an appointment with a GEICO adjuster tomorrow. I'll truly find out then.
Still, the cat being replaced at 11K miles is amazing to me... The repair facility will prepare an estimate without the intervention of the insurance company, who's job, by both practice and title, is to adjust down the cost of repairs as much as they can get away with. Walking into a repair center with an insurance adjusted estimate already in hand makes the repair centers job of restoring the car 100% to "Pre-loss condition" much more difficult. |
that super sucks

IronMike speaks the truth I would follow that advice 100%.

Diminished value virtually impossible to collect in California. I know all too well. Not worth the life distraction for as many as 5 years, or the tens of thousands in attorney fees just to get a date on the court docket.

That blows!!
I was side swiped in January by a uninsured sista' who kept insisting that she had insurance and had left it in her 'briefcase' at home. At least now you can go all in on any mods and tunes!!!:icon_dance-cpatch: |
