Color of strip between the roof and boot
I have a 2018 custom painted (by SVO) British Racing Green SVR. I noticed that the bar that separates the roof panel from the rear window panel is painted BRG and other F-Types seem to have that piece painted black. Can other members with coupes weigh in on if their piece is black or painted to match the car. It would also be helpful if you mentioned the model year to see if that was a factor...
Thanks!
Thanks!

This has been discussed / commented on before but it is 99% certain that all the gloss black panels have the metallic flake in them. So it ain't no twist Lance, it's boringly normal!

As I was told by JLR Customer Service, Jaguar picked this color so this one body panel could be painted the same - in mass - for all coupe colors. This causes at list one mismatch however, when one chooses the solid Ebony Black paint as I did after extensive analysis of the available paint colors at the dealership, the Roof Panel does not quite match the rest of the car. When I pointed this out to both my salesperson and the General Manager, they were both unaware this was the case till we took a stroll around the lot and much to their amazement, every color coupe had an Ultimate Black roof panel including the solid black ones.
Its not readily noticeable - until you spot it - then its glaringly out of place when seen on a solid black car. Nobody seemed to know why, but a BRG coupe on the lot had a solid black roof panel, so the GM volunteered to switch it with mine on their dime.
Being matched to the body color - as it is on the SVR - rather substantially changes the look of the coupe when seen from any viewpoint behind the vehicle.

From an aesthetic standpoint, I suspect
the metallic black is intended to carry the lines of the glass panels from windshield back to the spoiler. A body colored strip, particularly on a lightly or brightly colored car would break up those lines. A white panel wouldn't look so good on this one:

Thanks to all for your insights! It sounds like there was a different "painting map" for the SVO special paint jobs. When I placed my order in 2018, BRG was not offered for the SVR so I fought with JLR over this and paid quite a bit more then $4,700.00 (x2+) for the pleasure of SVO/BRG. But I must say that it was worth every penny!
