Conflict between Iphone and F-Type
Hi everyone, recently while in the car, I can't get directions using my iphone! Siri will respond through the car speakers "Sorry something went wrong" It has worked perfectly for years, and the cell phone will give directions while outside the car. Help if you can! Thanks! :icon_bricks:

Which iOS is installed?

Tried phone in several other cars with no problem! Just recently stopped working in the Jag!
|
Are you able to try a different I-phone? That would confirm the problem is in the Jag.
Presumably there is some sort of "receiver" in the Jag. Perhaps it has failed? Does your bluetooth phone connection still work? Last thought --- I assume you are connecting the I-phone with a USB cable-- try a new cable in the alternate USB inlet. |
Presume you have tried deleting and then repairing from scratch
|
Thanks to all who have commented! My wife's, and other phones work, while in my Jag! Just like if you were in someone else's car, and wanted to navigate using your phone. My phone works for navigation, anywhere but in the Jag! Once I start the car, I have no navigation using my cell! I still can call, and receive phone calls with Bluetooth. I never connected phone with USB, don't need to, unless long trip to save iPhone battery! I've also unpaired phone, and reconnected, without any change. It's weird that other's phones work in my car, and my phone works in other's cars, but not mine! :icon_screwy:

Unless you are using a dongle (Carlinkit) that connects to the center USB and provides wireless connection to the I-phone, I do not believe the F-Type will connect wirelessly to your I-phone Carplay.
Without the Carlinkit, you must connect the phone to one of the center cubby USB inlets to link to the phone and Carplay. Not clear how it could have worked previously. |

That’s odd. Have you tried to totally disconnect your phone from the car? Or turn off Bluetooth and see if the phone starts working as expected. Sorry if you have…didn’t read your entire thread

You should try connecting the phone with the USB.
It will give you more functionality with CarPlay. Also, did your phone recently do an update (and change settings without you knowing)?? |

Since you don't have CarPlay and are not connecting via USB, the only thing linking the car to the iPhone is Bluetooth. Go into Settings on your iPhone and turn off Bluetooth. This will allow your iPhone navigation to work completely independent of the F-type.
|
If your I-phone does not work but other I-phones do work, doesn't that suggest you have a settings issue.
Perhaps compare phone setting carefully with a working phone. Plus as previous, reconnect with Bluetooth. |
Good advice from CJSJAG. If the goal is to use the iPhone navigation independent of the vehicle and the only thing connecting the phone to the vehicle is Bluetooth then turning off BT should accomplish that goal. You might also try a hard reboot (long press the volume up and side button at the same time).

I guess I am having a hard time with this.
Clearly the problem is with the phone setting - not with the car- otherwise why would other phones work in the car? OP is not clear about actions he is taking. |
Wife and I have identical phones with same settings compared. I have tried with WIFI off! Weird my phone will give directions anywhere but in the Jag!
|
I believe the suggestion being made by several members is to turn off Bluetooth, not WiFi.
Bluetooth does not require any internet access to be used. |
