Default Convertible top and associated ancilliaries

Hello all,

I just purchased a 2014 F-Type Base roadster. Absolutely love it so far... My question is generally, how robust is the power top system? Needless to say, it goes up and down quite a bit when I drive it, and I'm curious what experience folks have had? Do they seem to last well? Poop out at 6-8 years?

Well hard to say about 8 years since the Ftype has only been in the US for 6-7 but if the car is garaged and maintained, the top treated at least every couple of years it holds up well. There have only been a few reports of the mechanicals failing that have been posted to the forum and I think most of us have had good experiences with them. The few that have had issues with the top have been some stitching pulls or problems related to staining from freak accidents. DJS posted where the tops come from if they ever need to be replaced.

all in all I would say they are as reliable or more so than most convertibles on the market. Mine is a 2014 with 46k miles and the top still looks and works great as new. (Knock wood)

Well I've had mine for only three years, I have put the top up and down countless times with zero problems. The only thing I ever clean it with is water. Happy sailing and enjoy one of the best cars ever made.

I've had mine for over six years and top is great. I use a cleaner about twice a year. Living with year round top down weather it is used very often, but I never leave it down.

I haven't had mine that long, but read up on every post related to them. Make sure you store/park your car with the top up. Leaving the top down accelerates wear. Use a quality cleaner and protectant, and it should last quite a long time. The biggest issue that has been reported is problems with draining. A couple if instances were reported when the drains clog, water fills up inside where the motors reside and fry them. I don't park outside in the rain, but I will also be checking to ensure the drain holes are clear. I did have a string from the headliner break and hang down. Had it fixed for about $100. I will say that I got the module that allows the fob to raise and lower the top and change to one touch raise and lower, and it's one of my favorite features now.

There is a module that allows the fob to activate the roof? Can you send me that info?

Thanks!

They're available from a few different places. The best mod I've installed, but then again, I don't have a tune yet!
