Do you really care about gas mileage...?
I used to brag about my last 2 Corvettes that it's really a "Economy" car, since in Eco mode & it shuts down to 4 cylinders to get 30+ mpg on the freeways.
However, with my current V-8 F-type R, I'm constantly stomping on the gas just to feel the G-forces against the seat & the awesome sound from the tailpipes & burbling sound at/after acceleration. At the fill up at the gas station yesterday, my wife asked what's my gas mileage? For the first time, I really don't know & realize that I really don't really care... :icon_mrgreen: |
I didnt in my XKR, and I dont in my F Type, but what I do notice is that I get over 2 weeks between tank fills for the F Type where is was around 10 days for the XKR. Which means that I dont buy Krispy Kremes as much (only get them from the servo), and less attendant sugar guilt.
So while I dont care at all about gas mileage, I'm happy with the overall consequences of my mileage having improved. |
To answer your question - do I care about gas mileage? No.
If your wife wants to know, have her click through the dash display (lower right of the center display between tach and speedo) options using the button at the end of the turn stalk. One of those options is mileage, others are things like current (real-time) mileage and miles until empty. |
No.

Not very high on my list either, but it is nice to know that we can get 28 mpg on the freeway when we want to.

The Hellcat was a drunk...she consumed a lot, but air and fuel is what makes HP. The GTR got great mileage when you ween’t Into it, but when you jumped on it, she was a heavy drinker. The Z06 was likewise a lush when you called for power, not like the Hellcat, but close. The F type R is really pretty reasonable....she’s thirsty when you want it to jump but otherwise she’s not too bad. But the F type is so pretty, I can live with her drinking habit 😻 |
No. As long as it keeps putting a smile on my face!

26-28 mpg on highway at steady speed, no gunning it. WOT, stomping it at every turn < 10 mpg. No, is the answer but more than happy it's not a guzzler all the time. I think snow/rain mode may be better than eco mode, but I haven't tested it. It sure is less annoying.

Not much! |
I track it carefully, but only care inasmuch as it is an indicator of mechanical health, and because I'm curious about things that affect the trend.
|
Guess I shouldn’t. I’ve only gotten 22 at best - and that’s from a V6, but I’m guilty of driving it in the higher rpm’s.
|
No, I don't really care about the mileage, although I do watch what it is, because that tells me the car is running at it's best.
Fast acceleration, smooth idle, smooth driving and reasonable MPG tells me things are good with my baby boy! He is a happy camper @26 mpg :-). Good oil, good gas= Happy ME... Happy Motoring ... |
What is it? |
Not a great deal.
But it is good to see (fairly accurate) figures on the screen in our XFR such as:

Nice.
30 mpg @ 80 mph... V6 or V8? |
No, I have no idea what it is. But I fill up at Costco to feel better. |

30 mpg @ 80 mph... V6 or V8? So the exact same AJ133 SC 5.0 litre V8 as the F-Type R, just detuned to 503 hp instead of 542. |

I care insofar as if I can get through a track session without having to refuel.
