Does anyone else daily drive the F-Type year-round?

I'm a little worried I might be the only one..! :icon_denk:

EDIT: On a different subject, how do I edit my signature to put my car info there? I looked around in profile setup and didn't see the option for it anywhere...

Stohlen 01-12-2018 05:12 PM

Not sure why you would be? Plenty of people in the southern states do, especially california where it appears this car is most popular. There are folks in the norther states that too also, plenty of winter tire/prep threads.

helo008 01-12-2018 05:38 PM

Yes!! But in San Francisco so....I doubt this car will ever see any snow haha!

As for your signature, click "User CP" on the black horizontal bar, and it should be on the left side menu.

No winter for me, it hibernates once the snow gets here. Nothing eats at a car like all that salt, wish I lived somewhere I would use it all year. However it makes spring that much better when it gets here.

Not really applicable on these cars...

Mine is a daily driver year round, it's the only car I have.
But unlike most of you in the northern hemisphere I have zero problems with cold, snow, ice or road salt, I have lived in Adelaide all my life (60+ years) and I have never seen snow here. So I don't have to worry about winter tyres, super slippery roads, holing the car up for the winter etc etc. The biggest worry I have is parking the car on the street or out in the open in summer where the in-car temp can reach 60 or 70 degrees C after a couple of hours, so I avoid that as much as I can.

lizzardo 01-12-2018 06:28 PM

The only think I park for snow is motorcycles. I've cycled in snow, but not by choice, at least not anymore. I'm getting old. I attempted my driveway once in snow and it did not go well. That said, it's a rare occurrence here, and usually lasts no more than a few hours. We're either washing away with rain or on fire here in California.

Anyway, back to your question: I also use mine all year. I even use it for hauling stuff, as much as that is possible. It's well documented that I am not sensible.

hmmmm...my understanding is most f types are daily drivers, that's what this GT sports car is designed for...but then we dont get any snow in southern california...

BruceTheQuail 01-12-2018 09:17 PM

It is my daily driver. It is a balmy 35 celsius here today (summer) but I have seen it down to 5 celsius on the occasional winter morning. For me, it is more that in summer I have to close the shade on the pano roof.

V8S daily driver here in the NE (CT) even when it’s bitterly cold 5 to 10F with RWD and MPS4S. Only stays indoors when it snows / there is salt on the ground. I have a Range Rover Sport for those days which is my wife’s primary vehicle.

Life is too short to not drive your sports car in all but extreme conditions.

zmoothg 01-12-2018 10:11 PM

I daily drive in San Francisco. I have 20K miles just 14 months of ownership.

FullChat 01-12-2018 10:13 PM

I have a F-Type. Why would I drive anything else? It's my 24/7/365 DD. I've ridden in my wife's car 4 times in 4 years...

AnD3rew 01-12-2018 10:18 PM

Sydney so no snow, and yes it is my daily driver although I have the choice of several other cars if I need more room or something smaller or less conspicuous etc.

bjg625 01-13-2018 12:19 AM

Everyday driver, might even put roof down tomorrow, supposed to be 68! Sometimes drive wife's Ghibli just for variety.

magredvet 01-13-2018 05:25 AM

Yup, daily driver here too....................though this year the heated seat and steering wheel have had some use, which is unusual.....it's not usually as cold here for so long.......damn global warming.....:icon_biggrin:

lsbrodsky 01-13-2018 06:43 AM

All year here, although the storm last week shutdown most road travel for a few days. We have very few plows and the roads just got icy.

I live in Northern England (UK), my RWD F Type is my only transport.
It's my daily driver, sun , rain, ice, snow, salted roads
Whatever the weather I enjoy driving it although more able to use to its full in summer.

rcodes351 01-13-2018 09:55 AM

I wasn't going to drive it in the winter, but it just works so well and all the cold weather features make it an absolute brilliant year round car. I just can't put it away.

Unhingd 01-13-2018 10:56 AM

Will drive mine any day the roads are clear (snow/ice) and the clutch is working

CSXWW 01-13-2018 11:03 AM

I run a town truck business using my F-Type so yeah I use it all year long.
