End of the Manual Transmission....at least for now!
 

The 2020MY brings the following updates to the F-TYPE:
 Exterior:
 Introduction of the Checkered Flag Limited Edition model.
 Corris Grey and Loire Blue metallic paints discontinued and replaced post Job#1 by Eiger Grey and
Portofino Blue.

 Interior:
 Climate Pack has been revised to only include: Heated Windshield, Heated Steering Wheel and
Two-Zone Climate Control. Heated and Heated/ Cooled Seats are now standalone options and no
longer included in the pack. Climate Pack 2 has been removed from the program.

 Powertrain & Chassis:
 Deletion of manual transmission models.
 F-TYPE R chassis enhancements introduced.
 Standard equipment enhancements:
 Smartphone Pack (Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM).
 Front Parking Aid.

You know they're winding down the production run when they start rolling out the "Limited Edition" models. :rolleyes:

So no F-Type and no XK? Where's the next Jag sports car coming from?

They're working on the next gen F-Type, which may be electric, or may be available (allegedly) with a BMW 4.4 V8 turbo (ghastly thought!). Also rumours of an XK replacement coming a few years down the line.

F-Type sales figures entering the fourth quarter of 2018 must be raising serious concerns in the Jaguar boardroom.

I can tell you that there is serious commitment to continue production of sports cars within JLR and the F-TYPE will not be going away any time soon. I believe that everyone got a bit too zealous on forecasts for sales because of the strong world economy but that has tempered a lot this year. Much more limited production starting with 19, 19.5 and continuing on to 20 MY means the market will be much tighter, you won't see them in the numbers we have seen for the past few years and future values should improve as a result. We will see several variants of F-TYPE going forward and it should make us all happy. JMHO

I know you have a much greater interest in unit sales than most members!

The F-Type must continue together with the X351 (replacement) or Jaguar goes from being a prestige sports and saloon marque to just another manufacturer of mid range saloons, crossovers and battery cars. I've been a Jaguar owner for more than forty years but there is nothing in the current range to encourage me to continue with the brand.

I am reluctant to tread among such distinguished members, but without a sports car Jaguar loses its raison d'être. Just buy a Benz and be done with it. However, JLR with the luck of the Irish has Land Rover as an anchor to windward. They have a tremendously desired product in the ascendant market (SUVs). There would be no JaguarUSA if they didn't have Land Rover to carry the organization. However, the easy selling Land Rover seems to have made Jaguar USA back off from investing the time, money, and effort it would take to make the Jaguar brand succeed. Let me offer a small example. The XF wagon should be a little star, but it isn't. It should add luster to the brand the way an E or AMG wagon does for MB. You two gentlemen probably know that the E wagon has the highest demographics of any MB model in the US. It attracts a cliental MB would not otherwise have. The XF wagon is treated as an afterthought. The F should be offered as a sale Jaguar wants to make. Equip the car, offer a wide spectrum of colors, do special editions, offer consistent trim levels, and for the love of Pete stop changing the nomenclature every year, and if sales incentives are needed, do it. With US sales headed to what 2,700 this year, there is no reason to expect the life cycle of the F to be extend beyond the normal 7-8 years. If Jaguar can't make a success of the F, why would it invest a fortune in a replacement sports car.

Car sales are down across the board - for all manufactures. Super low rates the past few years really helped drive sales, especially higher end brands that people normally could not afford. Now, with rates slowly rising and more and more uncertainly, this is not a surprise to see. I don't think Jag is too worried - this would have been built into their forecast years ago.

All car manufacturers are having issues moving sedans, the world is in love with SUV's. My Jag dealer told me they barely move any Jag sedans. They admitted they only move one or two XJ's a year. the bulk of sales are F-Pace, E-Pace and now the I-Pace. 3/4 of the showroom is dedicated to Range Rovers and 2/3 of the Jag space is dedicated to the Paces.

The showroom only had one XJ, one XF, one XE and one F Type.....Could also be the season as the snow has started to fly.

All the true decision makers for the married Simps want an SUV. That would be the Simp's wife.

My friend owns a VW and Mazda dealership and the sales team there knows when a husband and wife come in focus 99% on an SUV and talk about how safe it is - the wife is the decision maker always, the husband is merely the wallet.

A guy comes in alone, unmarried, then they work their way to the sporty cars and models.

The last thing a wife wants is her husband having fun, let alone driving around a flashy car. This is general speaking of course, but mostly true. There may be a Unicorn or two out there but very rare.

It is also the reason Porsche would be bankrupt if they sold just two door sports cars like back in the day. They adapted to the reality of a female-controlled consumer base.

The numbers going down for the F-type can also be because of the ridiculous price change after the first year and after the 2.0 version. All other versions got a higher price for the exact same spec.
