F type problems
 

Reading the various post, I do not get the impression that my experience is common. However, having purchased my "base" model about 5 weeks ago, its been in the shop more that its been on the road. The first problem was related to the convertible top getting stuck mid-stream. This took the dealer 6 days to repair. The car was then deliverd back to me and we noticed some scratches on the dashboard (under the moving air vent area) Also on a drive through rain, we had water penatration on the passanger side. Moreover, when I cleaned the car (hand wash) I noticed that the clear coat on the front on the hood was peeling. The car was then returned to the dealer, who have had it since 8/7 and currently, due to their inability to get the appropriate parts, I am not sure when I am getting it back. So far, owning an "F Type" and not been an happy experience.

Damaged in transit or during repair?
 

The clear coat problem would worry me. The paint on current generation cars is pretty much rock solid. This sounds like car was damaged during a repair or during shipment and repaired. That wouldn't be acceptable to me. When you get it back take it to a reputable body shop and ask them to look for any repairs to the front end. Something is screwy.

I'm sorry to hear about all this different problems you been having with your new car, hopefully your dealer and Jaguar will do the whatever its necessary to fix this issues. Please keep us posted.

Lemon Law
 

I am not sure about the law in your state, but in Florida, if a new car is in for service for 30 days or more for the same problem, you can force the dealer to buy back the car. I had a 350Z that was one day away from being brought back by the dealer before they solved the problem. I would check your rights in your home state,

Some of our problems were caused by Jaguar roadside, when they picked the car up. however, we are now caught in a pissing contest in terms of who pays for the damage.
The paintwork is under warranty. But as roadside caused some problems, These will not be covered. This means we will have to deal with their insurance company. for me it's a nightmare as I see it as all being Jaguar.
I was told on Friday that the bodywork and a few other items have been completed. however, they are still waiting on a few parts to complete everything. the dealership ( which is about 120 miles away) will transport the car back on Monday and that will mean it has been off the road for 26 out of 48 days. It will have to go back to get the remaining items finished, once the part get in. The Georgia Lemon law states that within the lemon law period, if the car is off the road more than 30 days I could make a claim.

Gear box fault
 

I had the car for three weeks... Went to drive it and error came out Gear box fault. Could not clear it... I called the dealer.. The came and picked it up ]. I t was there for 3 days .. They came back to me and said we have no idea what happened. I was not happy. they told me they where going to talk to manufacture, They called me back said there is a upgrade. They replace the shift with a new upgraded one. It been working without a problem..

Any one have this problem

Yes this is a common problem I am lead to believe if you start the car and quickly engaged the gear it will fail I believe it is a software problem

You are correct. It's can be quite involved.

Coming from a town about 40 miles east of you, you have my sympathies. I think I am familiar with the dealer you are working with. Be sure to keep VERY detailed records of all dates/times/correspondence/charges/etc. Sounds like they are planning to try to stick you with anything they can get away with.
I considered buying from them when I was looking for my F-type. They did have a good selection of F-Types. Came up from Fla. to talk with one of their dealerships and could not get a salesman to walk out of the showroom. I guess because I had driven up in a Cadillac SRX I did not look like I could afford an F-Type.

Well.. Did the car ever get fixed? Lmao.

I tried to do cross country deal with that dealer but price and fees changed every time we talked.
