Default engine light on

Okeedokee. I have a 2014 F Type, base model. Only owned it for about a half year now, but snapped it up because it only had 9500 miles on it. Has about 13k now. Engine light came on the other evening on my way home from work, so did some research and decided on a BlueDriver onboard computer reader. Just attached and set it up, pretty cool little device, lots of fun info. As to the engine light, BD indicates: "HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 3". I'm headed to Google to research, but thought i'd start here, haven't a clue, so any info would be appreciated?

O2 sensor ('HO2S' is heated O2 sensor.) Common issue on these cars, I replaced 2 in the first year or two. There's a software update to recalibrate, or something like that, which the dealer would apply (if it hasn't been done), in addition to replacing the O2 sensor.

And for way, way more than you want to know, here's the OBD Guide, including codes...

If you like way too much info, download the repair manual...

If I recall, there are 6 O2 sensors - 4 might be not too hard to get to (upstream/downstream of the cats), but the ones on the manifolds might be unpleasant.

I think this particular one is on the catalytic converter... not sure yet, still looking. Oh, and that first link you posted was for the V8, I have the base model V6.

It's the only version of that doc I've seen - I imagine >90% is the same between V6 and V8.

Here's my folder with all the F-type docs I've accumulated - copy what you like.

Thank you DJS, that's a lot of valuable information. My favorite is the "quick" wiring guide. I got vertigo just looking at it lol. Meanwhile, need to make sure i locate the bank 1 sensor 3 and replace it with the right one. Funny, replacement is unplugging a wire and unscrewing a plug, the devil is in the details of finding the right one and being able to get to it. At least the oil change is easy.

I am fairly certain that is the last sensor on the right hand side of the car. Very easy to get at.

Here is a thread you will find useful. Shows sensor location under car. Same sensor I had to replace but on the other side.

Thanks RGP, this link had the exact info I needed, and yeah, looks like "bank one" is the R side, 3 sensor. looks pretty straight forward. Do you guys use original parts or Bosch, Denso? Or is it sacrilege to even suggest that lol? I'm new to Jaguar, but with my BMW Z4, there were some aftermarket parts that were actually better, so feeling my way. Need to get a sensor socket too looks like.
Some really great info gang, thanks a lot for your replies. I spent most of my day installing a Mini Split HVAC system I just bought, way to much stuff to do. :-)

p.s. found this site, has a break down of Jag parts. Pics aren't great, but an approximation with numbers. https://jaguaronlineparts.com/2017-j...iAAEgKnsPD_BwE

This may be an easier source to use to select the proper sensor part number: http://www.jaguarlandroverrenoparts....umber=c2d28856 (item #9 in the bottom illustration).

The part number will depend on engine size, AWD/RWD, and manual vs auto transmission.

Once you have the right part number, search on eBay and Google it for the best price. Any brand name manufacturer will be just fine.
