Any rational person would be fine with the quiet software, as the car is still very loud. But it was nothing like like original, I was horrified immediately, as confirmed by those in the forum who sold their cars where the patch wouldn't take. I would have sold mine for sure.

I was furious that they ruined the enjoyment and resale value of the car without my consent. It's still not 100%, but its ok at 90% of OEM and not worth the risk of Jag making it quieter. The uninitiated would have no idea now, so resale is ok.

This is another reason the 2014, 2015 RWD V8s remain the kings of all F-Types.

Ah, I thought you werre refering to "H136 - Pass by Noise in Latched Special Programs Mode".

It seems from other threads that you are right, late model F-Types were in fact substantially quieted by JLR without announcement or fanfare.

It seems only early MYs are extremely illegal in CA.
