FAQ's about your F-Type by admirers?

For me so far: 'What is that?' and 'Is that a Maserati?'

Burt Gummer 08-11-2017 01:13 PM

Debadge = more confusion. "That is the cleanest model of Lamborghini, my favorite."

There are a lot of Cliff Clavens out there in the world.

To be fair - while looking at a photo on my phone -

Is that the new Miata?

Now for some humor - The forum spell checker is telling me Miata is a misspelled word. Doesn't exist! :icon_toast:

I've heard this one a half a dozen times. Just yesterday was last time.

Q: What is that?
A: A Jaguar.
Q: A what?
A: A Jaguire
Response: Oh, ok!

Most of my friends are car people. The most common question is "V6 or v8"?

I guess we can add "I4" to the list now :icon_nut:

I once was asked about my lotus, which is an odd mistake to make.

However the most common question is 'when can I drive it'

Desert Dawg 08-12-2017 11:33 AM

Same here; lots of "what kind of car is that"? But I don't mind because then I get to talk about it.

Q: What is that?
A: A Jaguar.
Q: A what?
A: A Jaguire

--> Q: Is the body made of aluminum ?
--> A: No, aluminium....

My best encounter was when a guy pulled up next to me in an XF and yelled at me asking what I was doing driving his Jag? Both spouses were horrified. Both drivers having a good chuckle.

Why did you remove the mufflers?

Greggbhill 08-12-2017 06:43 PM

I posted this on the funny bystander reaction thread after I got the car. I still think about the kid's reaction...

I had it sitting out front while I was detailing/prepping XKR for sale. Kid drives by in beater truck and slams on brakes, jumps out and says "holy $h1t, what th f$&@?: is that? Looks at me and asks if it is mine. I nod. He says he has to get one and asks if it was something like $150k or $200k? He said he didn't have enough now but was debating a new car or the house his girlfriend wants. I wished him luck with that one.

The most common question I get is "is that a V12?".
Sometimes I hesitate to let them know it's a measly V6.

Here in the land of Lincolns, Cadillacs, and Corvettes, the most frequent question is, "what is that? When I say a Jaguar, and they say why? I can say, "That's why."

jaguny 08-17-2017 04:32 AM

I've been asked "how much was that".

I was going to post the same thing. Our avian vet had an english sports car in his youth and has asked me whether my last 3 Jags were V12s, it gives me a severe case of cylinder envy.

I get the common questions, what is that, how much was it, V8 or V6.

This past weekend was a new one for me, although it appears others have gotten it, and it was: does it have a V12? Without taking the time to think, I replied with no, I only got half of the V12. Then the light changed and off I went. My son, who was with me, actually chocked a little on his drink. I had not even realized it might had been an odd response.

DPelletier 08-17-2017 10:22 AM

Hmmm; I've gotten a "are you married?" and "do you need a girlfriend?" LOL

Dave

My response to that last one would have been "Need or WANT"? After which I would have to also add that my wants ALWAYS out-pace my needs so for my next trick I am going to need a volunteer and a condom... :icon_dance-cpatch:
