How to remove hood / bonnet on 2016 Jaguar f type r
I have a carbon hood on the way and looked up how to remove it and not a single video or forum so I’m making one. I haven’t looked at it and am not near the car but if someone has done it or knows of easy ways to do it let me know!

Super easy hood removal. My wife and I can do it in 5 min. Remove the 4 nuts on each front support, flathead the clip open on the struts and done. Def need two people though.
This worked perfectly for me - disclaimer - do at your own risk. 😲
Place 4-5 couch cushions on top of engine & one wide one on windshield - strongly suggest you place an old clean towel/blanket/etc. between engine & bottom cushion, another on top cushion and another between winshield & wide cushion or be prepared to face the wrath of your wife 😱 😲 😵
Remove the bolt caps (4 each side) then loosen all 13mm nuts (8) & remove 3 from each side
Using a small screw driver, carefully pry circlip loose on each strut - I removed mine but think if you just pry loose where there's a gap, strut will pop out
Pull off both struts from hood & lay hood on cushions
Remove remaining nut from each side then gently raise the front of hood & slide towards rear until back of hood rest on wide cushion on windshield
If you need to work on the back part of engine, you could place a thick blanket on top of car then lift back of hood, put enough cushions on wide cushion to raise back of hood just above top of car then slide hood further back onto top of car.
Now you can easily work on front of engine
Reverse to install - NOTE, when replacing struts, if you removed the circlips, put circlip on strut from top 1st then snap in place
Note for all: if your hood fits correctly, make sure you mark the bolt positions before removing your hood. I.e. use a grease pen or anything to mark the perimeter around the bolts so you can properly re-attach the hood where it was before. These huge aluminum front clams are tricky - you can install it, gaps look good, but it is slightly too far back. Everything is fine until that one hot day where the hood expands enough to close the gap between the doors and the clam - then they interfere and potentially damage the paint on the edges. Ask me how I know this.
When reinstalling it make sure when you put the hood to
the brackets perfect, and put the 4 bolts on each side don't tighten until
the brackets line up with paint borders perfect, because when you close
it down it will chip the paint on the door

FWIW - my method - 5 minutes to remove and only 5 minutes to put back - easy peasy. As mentioned by Dennis, be sure to line up brackets & bolts perfectly for proper alignment of hood.
Great post thanks. I have had my supercharger off twice but was reticent to remove the hood/bonnet so next time this will help.
So when reinstalling, is there clearance in the bolt mounting holes allowing for alignment adjustment (and therefore you need to mark the location at the hinge attachment points before removal to get it back in the same position) or is it pretty much take off, bolt back on and the hood ill be in the correct alignment?

It is what I was saying in my prior post, there is quite a bit of play to allow for alignment.... or misalignment. You need to carefully mark where the bolts are fastened, and when reinstalling make sure they are aligned with your markings. I had a problem where I thought my hood was aligned - all gaps were even and no interference, but on a really hot day my doors started interfering with the back of the clamshell (expansion). None of this is difficult, but it requires a methodical approach.

Perfect !..as I thought. Sorry I missed reading your original post. Thanks again.
Best tip and trick are to use some painters tape to outline where the hood was aligned around the hinges prior to removal. This makes it very easy to line everything back up and then remove the painters tape when done.

Another great idea - I'd do both, mark the bolts and mark the hood with painters tape.
