I do think there are build quality issues with the F-Type, but I think JD Power dings them considerably on the infotainment system and other design-related things that are more “shortcomings” than “faults.”

While there is no excuse for crappy panel alignment at hood/fender (were the factory techs blind?), the Meridian sound system issues that have plagued the car for years (deaf, also?) and other things... there are known fixes for these that once sorted should being the car up closer to average. They are definitely the kind of thing you’ll notice in 90 days. Honestly a little more care and focus would make a big difference, JLR!

First, let’s note that the number one model was the Porsche 911.
Second, JLR captured both the last and next to last places. Coincidence?
Third, I expect that JLR accomplished this feat by combining both build defects and design defects.

When I bought my F I was looking at the panel alignment and the sales person remarked I was hoping you wouldn’t notice. The electronics are 5-7 years behind the state of the art. And the level of standard equipment is sorely lacking. At least in the case of our cars we are talking about $75,000-$125,000 vehicles. Not a winning combination.

Folks rave about the sound and the styling but you never see posts proclaiming the outstanding build quality or design features.

Ford got Jaguar up and running by throwing in billions of dollars. But the present regime is going to revert to the bad old days if they don’t up their game.

As with all statistics, rankings, and lists...understand the numbers and the context!
