Just a little CF (wrap)

Decided to play around with a little 3M Carbon Fiber Di-Noc wrap...

The side skirts will be my Sunday project...

More photos coming as I get more completed.

(Sorry about the crappy cell phone picture of the rear debadge... Bad lighting)

Like the look on the front spoiler blades. Not a fan of it on the fuel door.

Lose the dealer license plate frame too unless they are paying you to advertise them.

As above really, lovin the look on the front spoiler blades, not so much on the fuel cap though.
Really nice ride, thanks for sharing....

No, not the fuel door.

TXJagR 06-05-2015 10:40 AM

Was going to leave the fuel door as is (covered) until I get the side skirts done this weekend. Then I'll decide if it all goes together or not... I may very well remove it after the weekend.

The frame will come off when my custom plates arrive. Should be anytime soon...

I'd also like to do more of the front in CF... Anyone know how to remove the gloss black portion circled in green below?

Looks good. I've been in the fence about the fuel door too. Think it looks better on lighter color cars. What's involved? Heat gun and blade?

Yep... heat gun, blade, some 3M Tape Primer for the edges to prevent lifting or peeling, and some free time...

Really not difficult, just a bit time consuming if you're new at it. (I am)

I'm hoping I have time to get the both side skirts finished on Sunday. If not, I'll do one Monday... Nobody looks at both sides of the car at the same time (as proven by Stohlen's mis-matched skirts!) :icon_lolsign:

Looks great but not feeling the fuel door wrap. Maybe it looks better with a full body wide angle shot.

Yeah, as stated, I'm not 100% liking it at the moment either. I'm leaving it until the side skirts are wrapped to see how the entire side profile looks. IT may come off...

yea, I wouldn't give up on the fuel door look just yet. I've seen a few local Ferraris that have done a different color/CF fuel door and they look very good. But I do think you'll need the side skirts and mirrors to be also done to complete the look.

Debadge done?

I'm not into de-badging, but are you going to remove the rear "AWE" and "R" badge too? I would have left the "F Type" and removed those two and the grill R. The 4 pipes tell the story very well by themselves. CF is, well, to each his own.

here's an example

When they wrapped our front spoiler they just cut the wrap to fit, didn't remove it. The took off everything else including the bumpers so I'm guessing it is not removable. I wouldn't do the fuel door. Car is at the dealer getting the goosed gerbil problem fixed with the exhaust (it is a common problem and rather embarrassing). I'll take a better shot of the front spoiler when I get it back tomorrow (unfixed, needs a new exhaust).

Looks nice! Though like the others I have mixed feelings about the fuel filler cover. I don't think it goes with the rest.

I don't have the patience or skill to do that kind of work myself. I can do plastidip work, but I've watched a few videos on how to properly wrap vehicle parts and I am sure that isn't something I'd do well. :)

I have an appointment next week to bring my car into a professional to have several pieces wrapped with CF vinyl. I'm having the following parts done:
  • Front splitter (center and both sides)
  • Front grill bar
  • Side skirts
  • Hood vents
  • Roll-over bars behind headrests
  • Trim piece behind the rear tires
I've already purchased the CF mirror caps from Mina Gallery, and will be putting those on myself once they arrive.

I'm also planning to plastidip the rear JAGUAR lettering. Debating doing the leaper and F-Type logo as well. Going to leave the R badge as is.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the final result, as I think that will really make the car pop!

Post lots of pics when you're done.
What about doing the grill surround to match the grill center bar? Or better yet get rid of the center bar?
Can't wait to see your pics.

OK have my car back here are shots of my trim with CF wrap. Note the front spoiler looks pretty good even close up and it seems to be holding up pretty well.

TXJagR 06-06-2015 02:03 PM

Very nice wrap! I like it a lot. I'm not good enough to do the complex shapes of some of those items just yet, figured I'd work and practice on things with less complex shapes first.

Hopefully I have time tomorrow to spend a few hours getting the skirts wrapped.
