Limited Top Speed
Is the top speed of the F-Type electronically limited in North America?

Not to 155. Jag used to say the F-type was 'limited' to 161MPH (base V6), 171MPH (V6S), and 186MPH (V8S). Don't know what they say nowadays. A tune can remove what limiter is there.

I think the tune I use ups the rev limiter by 200 rpm, but not to achieve any additional top speed. |

I thought those were drag limited, not electronically limited, but I have no evidence to corroborate that.

"Drag limited" means the top speed possible due to the effect of drag on the car. All things being equal, the same car with more horsepower will go faster. Drag increases with the square of the speed, though, so it takes a considerable bump in horsepower to have much effect on top speed.
I remember reading that the top speed of the F-Type R is electronically limited to 186 because of tires. A faster top speed would require a higher rated, more expensive tire. |

They are indeed tune limited, but unlikely that the respective models can do much more even without the programmed limit in place. |

Sounds like the man has tried it out in the practical sense. :icon_playing:

Incorrect on why the R is limited to 186. It is related to the rear wing. The rear spoiler on the R is not large enough to product sufficient down force beyond the 186 MPH rating. The SVR has a larger, "full" spoiler that helps provide greater down force. I have an article on this around here somewhere...wanders off to look
