Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect

Has anyone mounted Cup 2s to their F-Type for daily driving (not track use). Tirerack has a Cup 2 version (I believe the new version is called Cup 2 Connect) with a 240 treadwear rating. I drive my SVR a few times a week, but don't anticipate more than 2k miles per year. I know there are a lot of fans of the pilot sport 4s, but curious if anyone has tried the Cup 2s with the 240 treadwear.

I had Sport Cup 2s for about 2 years. I bought them brand new as replacements for the P-Zeros. IMO, they were not good for daily driving. They really needed to warm up and the grip would not come on strong for the first 5 minutes. If I left the parking lot at my gym and got on the gas to make it out the left turn across traffic onto the main road, the traction control would kick in pretty hard. After I picked up four nails in one tire, I decided to just switch them all with PS4S (I had roughly 14,000 miles on the Cup 2s). The PS4S are much better tires for me. They feel grippier in cold driving and have less road noise. Add to that they were cheaper and it was an easy decision. It was about $2000 mounted and out the door at Costco.

thanks for the reply!

what model F-Type do you have? probably a difference in traction RWD vs AWD... I haven't noticed any traction control or wheelspin in my SVR so far, even on the stock pirellis.

I'm planning to run Conti DWS all seasons in anything under 40-50 degrees, but the higher treadwear cup 2s caught my attention as a summer only option.

What eeek observed- I've gone from P0's to MPS4 to Sport MAXX Race 2 (UTQG 80) currently and streetable track tires do grip and stop worse than the MPS4 when not at track temps. I run the Race2 only to accommodate HPDEs and because I drive the car little otherwise. The biggest consideration on the street, for me, is the relatively longer stopping distance on the street even when fully up to temp and ambient is 90+ degrees. Would stay with the likes of MPS4s unless there's a track need.

great advice, thanks!

anyone investigating Conti ExtremeContact Sport 02s as a MPS4S alternative? some tests I looked at seem to rank them pretty close - advantage to the Conti in some situations. Contis some cost savings and slightly higher treadwear, but looks like would lose the (Y) rating for just plain Y. don't anticipate using that rating though in the US.

I just got a set of ExtremeContact Sport 02s after reading the reviews. They seem to have comparable traction to my previous PS4Ss and the ride feels more comfortable IMO. I'm quite happy with them. I think Michelin should release more sizes for PSS5 soon if they want to keep up in this category.

I run Extreme Contact Sports (not the latest 02 version) on an AMG; while a diff car than the F, the Contis ride softer and steering feels less direct (a little more ‘numb’) than the M Pilot Supersports they replaced. When time to replace the set, will likely return to MPS4S.
