Default New (to me) F-Type Owner

Hey guys, I just bought a low mile 2014 F-Type V6 S this past weekend. This is my first Jag so I am a bit of a noob when it comes to these vehicles. So far, this forum has been incredibly helpful in finding out information about these amazing cars. It helped me solve my low battery warning and figure out how to use the USB infotainment system. Once the weather breaks here in central Pennsylvania, I will get her out and stretch her legs a bit.

I am looking forward to being a part of the community!

Thanks guys! We do need to connect, Watson. I was just looking in the regional thread about meets. I am in eastern PA quite a bit for work, but I am usually driving a Nissan Altima.

Congrats and welcome! South central PA here and as soon as spring makes its appearance we certainly need to get the ever expanding PA group together. We have been joined by our NJ and MD colleagues as well several times. May spring come soon, I get depresssed every time I look into the garage.

Wow, I didn't realize the presence here in the northeast! I will definitely keep an eye on the US Northeast thread for upcoming meets.

BTW, installed the SmartTOP controller last night. Highly recommend the product if anyone is considering it.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

please elaborate on the smartTOP controller. I see that it allows you more control of your vert top and windows. Is this pretty non-invasive and DIY install (the plug in adapter version)? Is there any battery drain when car is off? Is it visible and how hard is it to get to? And of course, cost

Thanks!

There is a great thread all about the SmartTOP controller here...

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-order-129710/

The module and it was entirely plug and play and operates flawlessly. Initially, my passenger side window would not raise so I had to reset it using the procedure in the owners manual. Here is a link to the product...

This thread was started back in 2014, but likely has some useful info. The SmartTop controller is highly recommended for anyone with a convertible, though on later model years, the key fob sequence gets crazy due to changes in the Jag networks. It lets you roll down just your windows, or windows + roof. And raise them again, all from the key fob.

Edit: Doh! JV beat me to it.

My 100% stock car has roll down windows feature. Press once to unlock, then press and hold unlock button to roll windows down.

I know I tried just holding down the unlock button, which did nothing relating to the windows. Don't know if I tried that sequence. Some of these things are like Easter eggs - not in the owner's manual, so up to you to figure it out.

Gotta love those early V6’s. Very simple, no side skirts. But then, I’m a bit biased.
