Oil filter Wrench Source
 

for those perform their own F-Type oil changes, whose oil filter wrench do you use? I bought a 90mm 15 flute one from NAPA and it is a plastic POS that is too big. Any recommendations?

Assenmacher Specialty Tools has the oil filter cap you need. Used it in my '15 F-Type R--worked flawlessly--90MM, 15 flats and 3/8" drive. (Should work on the 3.0L as well.) Been ordering from Assenmacher for years. Quality products.

However, unlike my direct orders to Assenmacher in the past, I had to order the oil filter cap from ToolSource.com (Assenmacher directed me to them). The cap shown in the below ToolSource.com link is the oil filter cap made by Assenmacher.

BTW, I tried the plastic oil filter caps too (don't ask how many I have collecting dust). Think I've finally learned my lesson. Steel is the only way to go if we're talking about oil filter caps.

The beauty of it is it is a universal fit and I have used it on several cars, and it has loosened off a couple of really stuck hard filters.
But don't get the one in the linked ad, you need one that looks damn near identical but the inner edge of the strap (where it grips the filter) is covered in a 1/4" thick strip of rubber. I couldn't find one exactly like that on Fleabay but auto parts stores should have them.

Looking for some direction, I have a 2015 3.0L Ftype s and purchased a 90mm 15 flat cup wrench, and it is too big. My measurements would suggest an 87mm, has anyone purchased one, and what size was it?

I ended up using one of these I found in the back of a drawer in my tool chest. Just put sections of thick latex lab tubing on each jaw to prevent scratching.

BTW what ever you do do not buy one of the oil filter sockets made of plastic they will be useless - even if it is the correct size. Initially that was all I could find locally and both I tried I had to return.

You are right. Just ordered the 90mm 15 flute Steelman.

Although the other one did work fine with once I put the rubber tubing on it.

As an update, I used tin foil to make up the space and was able to remove the cap. I believe the correct size for mine is a 89mm. Will order one for next time!

I bought this one from Amazon...............it states it is specifically for Jaguar, although it is classed as a 90mm x15.

I too got this one off Amazon. Have only used it once so far, but worked fine. Used a torque wrench to reinstall.

Well bought the Steelman 06128 as was suggested elsewhere in this thread. Was just delivered and it it too big. Now I have another paperweight.

Following Lance's recommendation for one with 88 mm internal diameter and 15 flutes I searched Fleabay for one with those specs and found a real cheapy, $8 IIRC.
It should roll up any day now, when it does I will do a test fit and report back.

It cost me a whopping $14.80 AU (a tad more than the $8 I incorrectly recalled) so if it doesn't fit I'll just put it on your bill Lance!

Can't find an 89mm version so I think we are down to either the 88mm or 90mm which looks to be too big.
Just ordered Steelman 6138. 15 flute by 88mm. About $10 on EBay. They are listed for a Hyundai.

Just got my 90mm version Steelman 6128. Fits with some slop so I could see it doing damage to the plastic oil filter housing.
I did like the tin foil solution! Good thinking.
