Looking to add android auto to my 2014 convertible. I have looked at the options and it seems there is always a compromise of some function not working with the adapters so based on what I have read, it looks like a full unit replacement that switches back and forth between the original system and new system is the way to go and updates the dash which I really like. I'm looking at the highest RAM options as my past experience with these type of units in other cars have poor performance with low memory configurations. I have been looking on Aliex... and found this Android15 unit.

I have plenty of experience with Car audio and electronics, so this will be a DIY install. Looking for feedback/experiences anyone has had.

 

Make sure you understand shat specific features you lose. I researched extensively for my 2017 as I wanted to move to larger screen but there were too many needed elements that I was going to lose
So I did the GTA car kit one which is a simple install, uses my existing small screen, no features lost except the custom dynamic mode setup. Which I never use - I just use dynamic in the factory configuration

 

I put one in my 2017 XE, works great and looks great.
I use it constantly in Carplay mode.

Wht I think stinks (with my head unit) is that you have to use a microphine for calling, and the quality is really bad. I found no way to use the cars microphone.

In my F-type I use also “a box” with my original screen (small). Works great, also with the microphone. The screen is old school in sensitive to scrolling (Bosch unit). That is a bit of a bad thing. I would do it again.
