P300 one year later, second topspeed attempt.
So I post again the first attempt we did.
..who beats our topspeed of 255kmh in a P300 .. ..where you legally can... :P Last year, on a 'no limit' highway in Germany, we were 'ahead-of-the-game' after driving along roadworks respecting the 80kmh speedlimit. Ofcourse you then upset people behind you, but we did have a complete empty road ahead for about 5 kms... Just run-in, about 3100 km . Rev limiter cuts in at 249kmh : Again, a year later, more then 16.500 km covered, so well run in.. .. no rev limiter ! |
Looks as though it is sitting nicely on the road even at that speed. How did it feel?

Not bad for a 2.0l 4-banger pushing close to 2 short tons.
It did 205kmh on a straight, after a while.. ..in 1987..:icon_playing: It was less heavy [ around 1200Kg me included ], but still. Thirty years on and 300pk ; why not 250.. We were amazed ti continued pulling at 255 . Some day we'll test how fast it really goes, after a while. We did sense every 10kmh more beyond 230 was squezing it.. |
I hate to be that guy but weight has no real bearing on top speed, just affects how long it takes to get there...

I would imagine rolling resistance being weight dependent which could change top speed. Perhaps not a huge impact though.

The drag is quite unpredictable. There was a TV show once about KAHN, he wanted a certain model of spoiler but had no budget to test it.
So they build it anyway. Result was that the front wheels came off the ground at higher speed.. ..it didn't stay on long... Anyway, I did raise tire pressure from the adviced 2.5 all 4's to 3.0 all 4's . Noticed my tires were wearing on the outsides mostly, didn't do that many doughnuts.. |

Have mine just over 16 months now and the engine is well run in now, seems to have got more responsive, drove a 2019 model and seems sluggish in comparison, looks like this engine gets better with age.
The 2.0 turbo has plenty of power increasing options, see this article. A 2.0-litre turbo four, paired with a six-speed sequential transmission, and producing 521 hp and 372 lb-ft of torque, enabling the Chinese concept to hit 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph. https://carbuzz.com/news/jaguar-xe-s...mK97og3C4sxbBA |

44psi will certainly help to reduce the rolling resistance from the tire.

Yeah, why not 100psi or just install some metal hoops instead of rubber? ;-)
and you end up with a rock hard suspension....:icon_qtank: |
Fastest my V6 S able to hit with the top up was 170, and after 160 it took a long long time to get there. It may have a little bit more left in in, but not much, Also not too many place you can do that safely, and even so the thought of passing a cop is pretty scary. Anyone else get anything better with their V6? top down It didn't get past 164 but it did not feel stable after 155.

Are the gear ratios the same (obviously only for the slushbox) on the v6 and v8? The final drive? I understand the diff is different but can’t see any info about ratios
