Panoramic (Glass) Sunroof 2016 Jaguar F-Type
Cracked Panoramic (Glass) Sunroof 2016 Jaguar F-Type got a rock chip in it from rock thrown by a semi-truck. With all this heat in Alabama the chip has spread and is over 2 feet long now. I don't know what I should do or what would it cost to fix. I do not have windshield replacement from my insurance, but this really isn't a windshield, it's the roof, so hopefully my car insurance would fix, minus the deduction.
I can either do one of three things.
1. Leave it be and live with it.
2. Cover over the panoramic roof with a window tint dark enough I can't see the crack
3. Install a new roof.
Does anyone have an ideas? Has anyone ever replaced a panoramic sunroof on one of these cars, if so what did it costs and did the dealership do a good job?

Talk to your insurance company, no use worrying about it until you know where you stand.
Jaguar glass is garbage, I wish I could get an aftermarket windscreen for my XE. I've just booked her in for her fifth windscreen since November; first three from the jag dealer were distorted, fourth one was "aftermarket" but it was the identical Pilkington glass without the Jag logo. Also distorted 😭

No. My post says "...identical Pilkington glass without the Jag logo" so I thought I was pretty clear who the manufacturer is, but obviously I was mistaken.
I'll refer to it as "Jaguar-branded glass" from here to make it simpler for you to comprehend.

So when you say "Jaguar glass is garbage" you really mean "Pilkington glass is garbage" since the unbranded screen was also distorted? Simpler for everyone to comprehend. And accurate.

You obviously don't, as you said you'd refer to it as "Jaguar branded glass" after saying the unbranded glass was also distorted.
The windscreens sold and supplied by the Jaguar dealer as OEM items had both a Jaguar logo and a Pilkington logo. Sold by Jaguar under the Jaguar name with a Jaguar logo on both the glass and the receipt. Made by Pilkington, Jaguar-branded.

I refer you to your previous post: "fourth one was "aftermarket" but it was the identical Pilkington glass without the Jag logo. Also distorted"
Now do you get it? Doesn't have to be Jaguar branded to be garbage, apparently.

Perhaps the problem is with the car, not the glass.
Though not in the top ten, Pilkington makes a lot of glass screens.
Is the Jag screen shape / specification so different?
If the same car keeps having a problem, perhaps the issue is related to distortion ot flexing of the window frame?

Yes mate, I worded it poorly, we get it. Everyone - including you - knows exactly what I meant.
I've tried to be nice, now **** off.

Try to act like adults, friends.
There are more puerile, thin-skinned exchanges in the F-Type forum than in all other Jaguar Forums combined. One would think that leasing an F-Type makes one omniscient.
Treat one another with basic human dignity or I will ban all involved.
Cheers,
Don

I had a crack in the moon roof of my 2020 F type caused by a flying rock on the highway. I brought it to Safelite but they told me they don’t fix it. I called Jaguar dealer who told me he doesn’t do it either and in fact, I could find no jaguar dealers in Connecticut who would do the repair. They all sent me to Plymouth glass in Thomaston Connecticut so I call my insurance company. Luckily, I had glass coverage that included the moon roof with no deductible or loss of no claims. Plymouth glass did a really good job, I had to leave the car with them for two days as it was a complicated job, so it was worth leaving it in their shop. Before I left, I asked to look at the invoice it was $6950!! They use genuine Jaguar glass from the dealer and a lot of labor. If you drive an F Type With a glass moonroof I can’t emphasize enough check your glass coverage. It’s super expensive. If you have a problem, I was lucky others on this forum have written how expensive this can be. It’s probably worth putting some wrap on the moon roof to protect it. I’m doing that for sure.
I had mine done a year ago and it cost $4000.00 at an independent glass shop. I believe just the glass was $2600.00 The shop had the car one day and the installer said that replacing the glass was not that hard to do.
Follow up on my windscreen comments above: today I had a FUYAO brand windscreen installed (the 5th or 6th windscreen in 12 months) and it is free of ripples! I can finally see again!
I'm not recommending FUYAO over Pilkington; in my research around this problem I saw many people having this issue with both brands... Some like me having 3 or 4 Pilkingtons installed before they changed to FUYAO and were happy, others having the same issue with FUYAO and not being happy til they switched to Pilkington. I think it probably has more to do with batches than brands, but I'm done with the topic of windscreens for the rest of my life 🤣🤣
The cost of a Jaguar-branded Pilkington windscreen installed was about AU$3500, the FUYAO was about AU$1500 installed. Four (or five) Pilkingtons and a FUYAO means my car has had well over $15k of windscreens in the past year, thank god it was an insurance job
