Peeling badges?
I've been shopping around, but mostly intimidated by the prospect of getting up-to-date on CAD skills.
Ohhh, I hadn't even thought of getting to use my rusty CAD "skills" - maybe I need a 3D printer! That was the ONLY part of the mechanical engineering classes I took that I liked - getting to play with AutoCAD. Luckily ChemE people didn't have to take many of the other disciplines' classes (at least up until I was asked to please leave school and not bother coming back - I had no idea GPAs went that low!). And I wasn't even blonde back then! I may need to research printers now. Just think of all the props I can make. I'm sure I can find practical uses for it as well.
I'm just saying 3D printer and CAD skills would be fun - not for car badges, but for other things in my life that I don't necessarily need but want. It would be cheaper in the long run than finding someone to make a resin or plastic sword for me since I can't carry around a bare metal blade. I go off on tangents. You'll get used to me eventually. Maybe.
@PBBarb. I love it when people carry there hart on there tongue..
I love the color of your car.. .. would have chosen that over ultra bleu, had it not been its the color of the Dutch King
and the national soccerteam, both not really my thing...

Aw thanks!
I call it my severe ADD or "oh look, a squirrel!" personality.
Thank you! I never thought I'd fall in love with an orange car, but once I saw the color in person I was in love. I do things like that though. I cried when we sold my old car and my husband said that's why you don't name your cars. He stopped, looked at me and shook his head and asked if I'd already named this one. Of course I had!

@PBBarb. We named the Discovery " Mi Lady " ... .. and the F-Type "Smurf" ..
..and the MiTo is #metoo ..
.. she gets some regular abuse.. .. driving skills that is..

You really want 3D. I can get 3D printing done from a BIM drawing for cost of the plastic at the public library across the street from my office. Pretty inexpensive. The plastic is gray. Your local library may have this option. I also have access to 3D drawing programs. There may be a 3D scanning app that could make this simple to get the exact configuration rather than transfer dimensions and details. Once scanned or input then the lettering can be modified to custom (with a U for example). Once printed then painting or finishing remains. I've also considered modifying an oem badge but it really depends on the customization of the letter as you would want to keep part of it. I'll look into this further and see what gives.

Ok, first step to scan via phone is doable. I think this may come down to finishing the gray material and whether whole badge is custom or just part of it. I'll run it down further on Monday.

One approach:
1. remove red/green decal
2. scan OEM badge to bim file
3. print
4. buff
5. chrome
6. get thin film red/green painted
7. apply film and trim.
Does anyone have an S or R badge that they've pulled off the car and are willing to donate to this project?

What if some of us don’t like the red? I actually would love to paint my calipers at some point too because I don’t like the red with the orange. Brake lights don’t bother me but brake calipers and the S badges do. Yes I’m weird.
@PBBarb.
We didn't select the red brake claws as these are a bit tacky. You can get them as plastic covers to clip over...
I specced the larger discs, with black claws, as only the larger discs filled the wheels properly.
Standard brakes look silly in large wheels. Alternative would have been to stick with 18" , but that doesn't do the looks any good.

It should be fairly easy to apply a single color to the badges where the red/green decal is located on the badge. The same heat resistant paint could then be applied to the calipers.
It's a good thing that the Dutch language is somewhat related to German.

My F-Type is Vivien (as in Vivien Leigh) and my Solstice was Talia (from the Batman comics).
