Auto stop/start defeat defeated?

Auto stop/start defeat defeated?
Hi - like many of you I've disconnected the auto stop-start feature on my 2017 SVR. I disconnected the power wire in the trunk floor a couple of years ago and it has not activated since then (using the instructions on here).
Just now I was filling up with petrol (gas), I restarted the engine and paused at the edge of the road before pulling out and the engine cut out. The green stop/start A in a circle came on the dash, and when I lifted off the brake the car restarted and I drove off. After my surprise I wondered if dealer had reconnected it - but no, it's still disconnected. And when I press the stop-start button near the gear selector I still get the message "Stop/Start not available". So it's definitely disconnected
So - how did it come on just one time?? Strange...

The unique condition that can cause it, is a start, brief forward movement under a certain speed, and then a complete stop. If you drive faster, or farther, it will not occur, but again, there is a specific condition where this can happen.

Interesting. Yes - seems like a unique one-off!
Hi Phalse. Yes - I have the button but don't like the feature. Rather than turning it off using the button every time I start the car, there is a cable under the trunk floor you can disconnect to permanently disable it. That's what I've done. If you search on here there's a good description of the process with pictures

I disconnected mine last week and it's so nice not having to hit the button every time I start the car! The yellow light comes on for about 10 seconds upon start up and then goes dark. Has anyone covered up the light with a small piece of electrical tape or am I being too OCD?

Yes, you are being too OCD. Just don't look at the console area for the first 10 seconds. Besides, how would a piece of tape look? Not good.

I posted a message a few days ago about how I disconnected the auto start-stop on my new 2021 F Type R. It disabled the function, but the button on the console continues to stay illuminated. Pressing the button will turn off the amber light and the icon on the gauge cluster responds appropriately but of course the button now has no effect upon the start-stop function. Interesting that Portlander reports that the button illumination goes out after a few seconds, mine does not unless I press it. But I'll just ignore it and if it bugs me it's easy enough to switch off.

Well, that's how my MY18 works.
