That spiderpodium could work for me. That thing looks pretty flexible, any chance it could secure itself to the passenger handle in the middle there and securely hold the phone?

May look a bit weird, but that would be the ideal placement (like the corvette pro clip).

What's wrong with the passenger-side cup holder? That works for me and is a lot cleaner looking.

Do you use a holder that fits into the cup holder (if so, which one), or simply placing the phone in the holder?

I've been using the cup holders as well, but the phone flops around and also sits too low for any practical viewing

I have two iPhones, one for work and a personal one that I use for the Waze app. I put one behind the other, and it works fine. There is a ridge in the cupholder that the top one sits on to angle up. Viewing is perfectly adequate.

I'd like to find a decent phone holder as well, but there isn't one.

You're right. Here's my personal iPhone 6 with my work iPhone 5S behind.

It works fine. With something behind the phone you're using for support, it doesn't move around, and it's not recommended for "track use," but it's impossible to beat the ease of mounting and dismounting every time you enter and leave the car.

Too bad we can't access the Waze app on the infotainment system - that would be awesome!

OK, I finally got a chance to get some pictures of the ProClip solution. Here it is both with and without a phone. I also included a picture with my hand in it to show how easy it is to access in that location.

Without phone

With phone

thanks for the photos duprey26, but that location has never made sense to me. seems like proclip would have done something similar to the corvtte and use the passenger hold bar.

The other thing I think could work is a mount that fits into the cigarette socket. feels like it would still sit too low though.

Shift, I can understand your reservations with that location, and to be honest, I wasn't convinced I'd like it either when I pulled the trigger. I'm happy with it now though, as I've enjoyed it's functionality. To each their own.

I can also see the appeal of the hold bar mount. My reservation with that would be that it's fine for times when I'm alone in the car, but would further isolate my passenger when there is one. Since that passenger is usually my wife, I'm not keen on isolating her more. While some on this forum, such as RickyJay have very supporting and understanding spouses, my wife has more of an accepting indifference to the car. I'd prefer not to tip the delicate balance any further towards dislike.

alright, here is my latest attempt. this holder just slides into the cup holder (can take in and out as needed). it actually positions the phone nicely, in that my arm is not obstructed from reaching the radio volume knob, etc., nor does it block any of the dash controls, etc.

haven't had a chance to really road test this yet, but i have not liked the other options so far. that f-type pro clip would not work for my right knee...that is exactly where i rest it.

I leave my iPhone in either my shirt pocket, or in the cubby that holds the cd if I need to charge it.

But then, I do tend to hit the end call button if Im driving.

I actually like the idea of the cupholder mount. The problem I see with the Proclip in addition to it's location is that the viewing angle can't be adjusted.

I just ordered this from Amazon, it gets rave reviews, and if I hate it I only paid $14, and I can use it in a different vehicle.

the issue I have w/ cup holder solution is (for a short guy) the position of the phone would be too far back. I like my phone to be nearer to the infotainment center area.

What I should have written is that of the available solutions, I like the cupholder location the best. However, I'm with you in preferring a clip that would fit the "oh shoot" bar.

Just installed the proclip mount in my car 10 minutes ago. Took 10 minutes, and I am quite satisfied with the result.

The passenger grab bar would not have been a good spot from my perspective as it places the phone too far away for me to easily read the display with a sideways glance.

I got the phone mount with integrated swivel (locking) and charging cable holder. Getting the phone to an angle I liked was easy, then tighten one screw to set.

Default I have the pro clip

Wasn't sure at first about the proclip mount, but I love it after months of use.

this is model GL41440 which fits iPhones, Samsung, Nokia, HTC etc smartphones

the unit ahs a USB power port that you can connect a charger to if needed

I went to Target the other day and found a phone holder that connects to the car via the power socket on the dash. The brand is Scosche and the one that I purchased for $20 could hold various brands and sizes of phones up to an IPhone 6 size. The unit has a stem that flexs and can be adjusted very easily to swivel to whatever viewing angle you want. It allowed clear access to the screen and all of the switches as well as the grab handle.

Have used it for a couple of days now and it is really handy and does not bounce around or lose its position. I am very happy that I made this find and hope it helps someone looking for an alternative to some of the previous solutions.

I have that exact one, that I also bought at Target. It's now in my pickup, and it works pretty well, but you can't hide the power cord.

For the F-Type, I bought one that fits in a cupholder, and I use the holder on the passenger side. The cord can be hidden by plugging it in the center console, with just a couple of inches of cord coming out under the console door.

It has a better viewing angle than the Proclip.
