Just tape off the areas around the taillight and paint them on the car.

I think there is a special smoke plastidip designed for taillights. Is that what you're using?

There is a smoke plastidip.

I've seen people use the black dip on taillights and it's tricky. It's easy to spray on too much but not enough doesn't look right.

Using the smoke dip apparently eliminates that issue.

I debated this route too but decided to use tint instead.

In any event, there are a lot of video's on youtube.

Here is one:

Chester,
I don't think the OP wants to tint his fog lights (the red lights in the valance/diffuser panel), I think he wants to hide them completely by painting or plasticoating them gloss black the same as the valance.

Easiest reversible way to do this would be to wrap them with some black film.

I can't refrain from commenting any longer. Don't you have fog where you are located? Blacking or tinting any light severely compromises it's intended purpose even in clear weather. Enough cars are rear ended each year without the diminished light output. Your car will stop in under half the distance many vehicles do on the road. Don't make this issue worse.

Ok so you have painted your taillight completely black.

Um, what is the plan exactly?
