Red Hood Louvres?
I was thinking of punching up my silver 2015 V8S Convertible and was wondering if anyone has seen the louvres installed in any other colors than the typical black, silver, chrome, carbon, etc. I have red interior and thought maybe red louvres on the hood might be a pop on the lunar grey finish. Or, it could be ridiculous looking. I can't decide.

It’s always a matter of opinion but I think it would look ridiculous. All attention will go to the louvres since the car is silver. The red will pop out too much.
|
You can also usually find folks online with some photoshop skills who can take a photo of your car and change the color of the louvers to give you an idea of the look.
|
I tend to think you're right, but I think the black louvres also are too obvious. Fun problems to have I guess.

There is your answer go with red rims and red louvers, problem solved
|
Depending on which louvers you have, a 'lipstick' treatment might work - red around the border, with the field black (might also look hideous.) But I think you'd need red somewhere else on the exterior to make it work.
Someone on here has/had red racing stripes... |
Tacky, don't do it.
|
Just put some red wrap on the louvers and see how you like it. Its your car, make it yours.

send me a good photo and i'll do my best to photoshop it, - phillipberk.uschool@gmail.com or 561-236-6280

StormtrooperFtype was nice enough to mockup the red vents just to see what it might look like. I think some some mix of this may be in my car's future. Thoughts?

IMO, it doesn't look bad with the top down as you see the red interior with it (and the photo angle probably helps). I have a feeling though with the top up, it won't look as interesting.

I'm in the market to buy a used Silver F-Type and I think yours looks considerably better without the red louvers.

David Meier,
When I was getting bored with the looks of my silver XKR a few years ago, I toyed with doing red louvres as well. I also wanted to do a tiny red pinstripe along the sides of the car to tie it together with the red calipers on black wheels. I actually purchased a set of carbon fibre vents with the supercharged lettering done in red, put them on the car, and one flew off in the first two minutes of driving, and I couldn't find it by the side of the road. My best friend was at the time having a dent fixed on his black BMW, so I took my silver vents over to the shop and asked if while they were spraying my friend's bumper they could spray my vents black as well. I liked the look and they've been there ever since. I like the red on silver idea. Be bold and make it what you want. Also if your front badge isn't red, either purchase a red one or hand paint it like I did. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...f318229dc5.jpg |
