Remote app tells me service now due only 7 months old.

Hi ladies and gents

brought my 2 litre f type last September new.Opened the app this morning and it’s telling me service now due.My question is it’s nealy 7 months old and covered 1050 miles does it really need a service or just a oil change due to low mileage. Can anyone advise I booked it in with the dealer and awaiting a call back to discuss what maybe needed and how do I get the app changed.

thx Wayne

Someone or something is having a lend of you, no way is it anywhere near due for a service yet. AFAIK the F-Type service schedule has always been 12 months or 16,000 miles / 26,000 Km whichever comes first and the four potter is no different.
Unless it's really nearly 12 months old and it was sitting in the dealer's showroom or yard for 5 months before you got it and they used it as a demo from the get go, but you said you got it new so that seems unlikely.
I suspect the app is faulty.

I think you will find the service reminder light was not reset when you took delivery. The car is probably basing the service date on the date the PDI was performed.

Get the official in-service date from the dealer. If you truly bought it new, would not need service as Oz says

Spoke to the dealer just now.

He said it looks like a bug and to ignore it till September which is the date they have for a service. He said to go home tonight and start the car if a service light comes on to call them back.If no service light ignore it till September so let’s see.

the app is very buggy, milage is often shown wrong as is the service reminder...like others have said . ignore the app

I think it is irresponsible to wait for 1 year or 16K miles for your first oil change. Your first oil change is instrumental in determining engine longevity - initial oil fill contains contaminants from manufacturing process and isn't anywhere near 'clean' state normal oil fill would be.

+1. The first oil change should occur at the end of the break-in period.(around 3000 miles)

Get them also to do oil and filter (you don't need to do full Service 1) since you had to take it in for service anyways. It is important to do first oil change early as factory-filled oil would have contaminants and residuals from engine break in.

I have had my car for 4 months and got a service reminder. called them and they said its wrong and if i want i can come in and reset it lol. Car has 3000 miles.

Assuming it hasn't changed since '14, here's the procedure to reset the service indicator. Note when it says 'ignition on', that's ignition on, engine off.
