Seat adjustment jerkiness
I just replaced my worn out seats for a better condition used seats I found on eBay. I had the Jag dealer confirm the donor seat VIN # to match the options my car seats have.
Now, instead of it being a continuous seat movement forward/back, up/down, recline back/forward its this stop and go movement. I have to let the seat control button go and press it again to get it to inch to move. Oddly enough the lumbar and the seat bolster adjustments work fine!
I've already unplugged the battery for an hour, changed out the seat controller panel on the door panel for another spare I had and nothing works. Theres nothing blocking it underneath, and all is well with the wiring..
Is there some sort of seat module reset we can do similar to the window switch? My guess is since the donor seats were from a crashed car they may be stuck in this limp mode of some sort? (no seat airbags were deployed in the donor car and theres no CEL in my car). My next idea is to remove all the motors from my originals into these donors, but really saving that as a last resort.

Yes. If anybody is still reading this when the seats move like that it's in failure mode (Sometimes called "inch" mode) because it has no communication with the car. Seat has power and ground so it is alive. We see this a lot when people install Jaguar seats into other cars. It's made that way so if you do have a seat failure of some kind you can still get limited seat movement so you can get to the mounting bolts to get the seat out.
It's a good idea as I had a MB 350 with a bad power drivers seat that would not move all the way forward. I could not get to two of the mounting bolts because the seat was in the way. I took the seat off the power mechanism to get access to the bolts. It was not easy.
