Second Year Service
Did a quick search but didn't find any hits for second year service (2015 coupe).
What is the average cost for the second year service? Called two dealers and the range was from $850 - $1300. |
That sounds high. For the 2014, the only difference between 1st and 2nd year service is changing the pollen filter and recording the battery code. The only major thing is oil/filter, everything else is check or top off.
I'll try to remember to check my receipts. I did the 3rd year this spring, which included a brake flush. |
I dont think i've ever spent anything on a second year service
|
If it's not included in the price of the car, why not do the service at an indy or DIY? None of tasks are difficult.

Just had my second year service, they recommend oil change, pollen filter change, and air filter change. Because of low mileage (5000) and car is garaged, we decided to not do air filter till next year.
Oil change w/filter inc/labor $148.71 Pollen filter change inc/labor $110.45 There was also a shop charge ? so the total inc/tax was $305.03 Air filter change is pretty expensive because front nose has to be removed. I think it was about another $200.00 |
Interesting. The maintenance guide recommends changing the air filter every 4 years/64K miles.

Damn. When my extended service expires, I'll do it all myself. For example, the filter and oil is under $80, and takes just 5-10 minutes. I suspect all of it can be done for half the cost with not much effort. (the nose is a simple removal).
My two year service is due in Jan 2017, it's the "B" service, and I'll get it done at a local independent shop for half the price the dealer would charge. I would do it myself if not for warranty issues, probably the same for the three year service (nothing but oil and oil filter change). After that I'll do it all myself, I did all the servicing myself on two XFs (on both the three year factory warranty expired before I bought them), I saved thousands of $, I had the satisfaction of knowing it had been done right, and I never had a related problem with either of them. |
Thanks everyone. Since I doing it myself isn't really an option, I will look into the local independent shops to avoid being overcharged.
Any recommendations for the Houston area? |
