Default Shift assist icons

2016 S with manual transmission, not that I need them but the green upshift arrows have disappeared. I can’t find either in the owners manual nor the display options what turns them on. It bothers me when suddenly something electronic stops working. Is anyone familiar with this. Thanks

I'm interested in turning them off, so hopefully we find an answer on how to toggle.

My car is also a 2016, but I've never seen this green arrow that people keep mentioning.

Mine's a relatively early build for that MY, so it could be that the feature was simply added shortly later.
Or, perhaps mine does have a shift light, but it was somehow deactivated before I took possession of the car.

Sport mode? My 6MT has dynamic mode or normal. The green arrow is there in either mode. It's not a traditional shift light, coming on at a specific RPM, but clearly assesses RPM and load. It's more of a suggestion that "you could go to a higher gear at this speed without lugging the engine." It's mildly annoying but not nearly enough so that I've looked into disabling it. It's also very early production, and was the first 6MT delivered by my dealer.

Default No green arrow....

Dug through some online info and found this...

"For a 2016 Jaguar F-Type with a manual transmission, the shift assist arrow for upshifts is a feature that cannot be enabled or disabled. It is an integrated, low-power consumption indicator that briefly illuminates when the car's computer recommends an upshift for optimal efficiency.
Why you can't disable the indicator
Integrated function: For manual transmission models, the green upshift arrow is a basic function tied to the car's fuel efficiency monitoring system.
Not user-configurable: The setting is not available within the instrument panel's "Vehicle Settings" menu. That menu is used for customizing paddle shifter behavior on automatic transmission models, not for toggling the manual shift indicator. "

I also did the same search for a 2017

I went out to my F, a MY2017 manual trans, but built late 2016. Without starting the car, in accessory mode only, I went through all the Ins. cluster menus, but did not see anything that addressed the upshift light.

Perhaps the 'bulb' is out? We had half the inst cluster display die on our 2018 corvette with just 11,000 miles on it. The car was out of warranty, but our dealer cut us a break as those LEDs are most likely usage related, rather than age related.

Related to this.. I proactively changed out the Telematics battery in the console. The original I took out had a November of 2015 date on it, so almost 10 years old.

It shows in my MY18 in both S and D. I haven't seen an option to turn it off (though I haven't looked very hard, maybe tomorrow!).

You can turn it off in your dashboard menu. Look for "Gear Shift Indicator" or "Eco Indicator" in your vehicle settings and disable it.
I understand what it is and actually do pay (some) attention to it, but wouldn't miss it if it were not there. I know it's not a sport mode feature because I have the light but do not have sport mode. I've got configurable Dynamic mode, but not sport. What would it do on the 6MT anyway?

As for the dashboard menu, I just looked through every option and could find nothing related to it. It's either not applicable to 6MT cars or not applicable to MY2016.

EDIT: Valerie's quote of information she found is pretty clear about it for the two different transmissions.
