speaker problems in your MY16?
A quick question for those who have taken delivery of their MY2016 w/770 watt sound system: Any speaker problems of the kind that have fueled several lengthy threads on this forum and others? I ask the question because of Automobile's latest installment in their long-term review of the 2015 S coupe, posted yesterday (July 14):
"Regular readers might recall that we had some of the Jaguar’s speakers replaced under warranty earlier this year after they began buzzing and rattling. Well, the buzzing and rattling is back, especially when you play music that’s all about that bass. Thumping hits from the subwoofer make the interior plastics vibrate." Some of you have stated that the problems have NOT been solved or even acknowledged. Just wondering about your actual experience with your new car. http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/12_month_car_reviews/1507-2015-jaguar-f-type-s-coupe-showing-its-miles |
Yes, there is still a bit of an issue. Buzzing.
|
I haven't run into the issue yet in my car, but I'll update if that changes.

no buzz, no rattles, no distortion, but not as loud as my 200 watt home system. (speakers must be incredibly inefficient) I'll take the tone app to it this weekend and see if anything rattles |
I've noticed some buzzing from the left side, but its only on bass heavy tracks at a volume level I would never listen to for a long period of time. Realistically tho, I couldn't give a damn about the stereo in this car.

No rattles or buzzing.
Just want a crisper sound, but as other poster said it's probably just the crappy speakers. |
I took mine in (2015 R) for it's first service, and told them that mine also rattles and buzzes on certain bass frequencies.
They ordered some new parts for it. Something about some hooks on the backs of the seats where the rubber wore off, and a grill cover I think. I'll have them replace those, and then if it still happens, I'll go from there. I hesitate to go down the path of another poster here who finally got Jaguar to fix his Meridian issues after what sounded like a many-month effort. I just don't have the patience level to pursue that. As long as the system doesn't rattle and buzz quite as much as it does right now, I think I'll be okay. I actually think if I pursued it more, I'd rather take it to a high-end car audio place and let them tackle the problem first, rather than the Jaguar dealer. I'd pay for it, but I think I'd get higher experience folks on it, and higher quality repairs, right off the bat than going back and forth with Jaguar. |
I had the rattling sub and they fixed it by taking the speaker out and insulating it better.... So they told me but the rattling is gone. They said its a common issue

From my own experience, I had to take off the plastic child-seat hook cover behind the passenger seat - it was vibrating like crazy with every bass note. I am also suspicious of the driver-side, door-mounted tweeter - it seems to make a weird hissing sound with some bass tunes.
Overall, the sound is pretty disappointing (especially the Meridian surround mode) but I attribute some of that to small cabin size. Hoping things might improve when the speakers are broken in more. |

For my 2016 removing the cover got rid of the buzzing, but I still get some speaker distortion for mid-bass punches unless I have the sound faded a bit to the back.

In general one of the worst upgrade stereos I've had in a car.

They probably figured that out. That's why it is now the base unit and they don't offer any upgrades.
