Truck scale says 4000lbs for a 2016 F-Type R?
see picture. This is a publicly-available truck scale at a local paper recycling plant.
subtract 60 lbs for kid and about 60 lbs for half a tank of gas. 4000 lbs? really? I have the glass pano roof. electric trunk lid assist... https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...c26c8983fb.jpg |
They put on weight as they get older .... :D

There’s an older thread where a number of folks weighed their cars (on truck scales) and posted their results. It’s a heavy car.

Yep, probably my only gripe about the car, the absolute lightest variants clock in around 3500 or so. An AWD R vert will climb above 4000 easily with options.

Don't be too quick to complain about the weight. The F was 'designed to work' with that much mass, and IMO it works well.:icon_banana:
In the Lotus world, the owners of 1000 lb. Sevens shake their heads at 'bloated' 1800 lb. 1960's Elans. The Elan owners turn up their noses at a decadent Esprit's 2800 lbs. The Esprit owners say "what is the world coming to" because new Evoras weigh 3200 lbs. Evora owners disrespect the new electric Evija because it weighs 3700 lbs. :p |
My 2016 R door sticker says 4700 GVWR, where does JLR get this weight from ?

The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is basically the maximum total safe weight of your vehicle, counting the curb weight (the weight of our vehicle when empty), plus the weight of your passengers, fuel, any accessories added to the vehicle, and cargo |

The standard answer in the Uk to that question would be "no, it's all those cakes and pies you eat"! ;) |
