Thanks powerhouse, seeing this inspired me to do mine as well! 15 minute job, 10 minutes for those whose eyesight and fingers aren't as crap as mine.
For those who want to know, the badge simply levers off in two stages. Best to first heat it up a bit with a hair dryer.
First, the outer ring simply levers off with a trim removal tool, it clips/slots onto the main part with six little tangs.
Then once that is off you can get at the small gap between the main part and the backing plate to pry the main part off out of the backing plate, it is held on with nothing but grey adhesive.
That main part is in two pieces - the fluted bit and the face - which are held together by a single Torx screw on the back, take that screw out and separate those two pieces if you want to paint either or both of them (I didn't, I just wanted to paint his eyes and mouth red).
I used some left over red caliper paint, works a treat, I have used caliper paint countless times for this type of work on all my Jags and never had a single problem and it never fades or deteriorates at all.
I didn't paint his tongue/palate (not sure which this is!) and eyeballs as that was too tricky to do neatly for my crap eyes and hands, instead I painted the inside of the mouth around the tongue/palate and the "whites of the eyes" around the pupils, as this is much easier to do neatly. You slap the paint on as best you can fairly thickly in these spots then wait about 10 minutes, then clean the excess off the raised areas using turps and a rag/cotton bud/toothpick leaving paint only in the recessed areas.
Let it dry for another 10 minutes then refit.
One last tip - when pulling the main part away from the backing plate gently pull the adhesive off the main part and leave it on the backing plate. Then, when you go to refit the fully assembled badge, reheat the adhesive first to get it tacky and make sure it is not covering the two holes that the prongs on the back of the badge slot into.
