Default Water Meth..

Hey guys,
Wanted to see if anyone has had experience installing water/meth injection on the 5.0 supercharged engines? If so, what system, where is the nozzle placed, and any lessons learned from tuning for it?

If memory serves this was discussed before and I don't think anyone had done it up to that point. Doing this on a supercharged motor is a bit more complex than a turbo because ideally you don't want to wash the supercharger rotors.

It's been done in many of the older jags with the supercharged 4.2L and 4.0L

This is what I have been told also by my mechanic. He said the LS supercharged engine guys were putting the nozzle past the rotors. Need to do a little more digging and perhaps look at other forums/platforms (LS engines) for some guidance.

Great..do you mind sharing the location of the nozzle?...Are you running straight meth or 50/50? AEM, Aquarist, Devils Own, Snow Perf?

I run 100% methanol and it's an AEM kit. I've had 0 issues with it and I race the car quite extensively in both 1/4 and 1/2 mile races. Not to mention generally driving like I stole it

Nozzle is located right at the Y basically on the intakes...so it's pre-blower.

Are you using one nozzle or two? Are the nozzles below (6 o'clock location) or 12 o'clock. How many inches from the Throttle body?

If I remember, you're just using it for cooling right? If so, what are your impressions regarding performance when the meth injection is on or off?

Also, any particular reason you didn't install it post-blower? Is there not enough space?

Yup, just using it for cooling. I don't think I've ever made any dyno pulls with the meth on vs. off. I mean, my butt dyno says it's great and I make pretty consistent passes even in the dead of Summer and IAT's are kept in check.

Philly uses it for cooling due to the heat soaking, for power he uses the laughing gas.

Just checking in to see if anyone else has had some experience with installing a water/meth system to the 5.0 Supercharged.

I've recently installed the Aquamist HFS3 v3.1 kit on my Base (with a dual pulley, 200 cell cat and Eventuri intake set up).

So far, my impressions are that the car seems to be pulling stronger, particularly in 3rd and 4th gear. I will be getting the car dynoed with and without meth injection to see how much of a difference it makes. Expect to see results by next Thursday in all likeliness.

Depending on how the system seems to be running, I might ask Chris from VAP to tune the car for the increased octane, although I haven't decided on doing that for sure.

For anyone wondering, the system is using the windshield washer reservoir and the pump is also hidden well inside the boot. My installer really did a great job in making it as "stealth" as possible, which was one of my biggest requests. I also have a convertible, which means boot space is a premium! I've been using the kit for about a week so far and not had to top it up yet, will post some feedback down the line on how often I'm filling it considering the reservoirs relatively small volume.

I'm currently using a 50:50 mix but will take a look at dyno results to figure out whether I should change this. If I'm not tuning for it, I could even just use 100% water for its cooling benefits.

I'll continue to post impressions and results as I collect them. Meanwhile, please feel free to ask any questions!

That is not the supercharger, it's part of the intake manifold. You can see the two extra holes for the injectors with some black permanent marker

Specifically, it's the intercooler on the supercharger side of the air cooling system that sits on top of the engine block (yes, part of the intake manifold). Those aren't injector holes. The injectors are located down on the heads. No clue what those holes actually are. I don't even have them on my engine.

I'm assuming he meant he drilled them for a water meth system, but since he provided no explanation at all to his picture its really hard to tell.
