Well, good thing I have a warranty, I guess?
Purchased a '14 V6S Convertible from a dealer down in FL. I've had the car roughly two weeks and have had three issues pop up.
The first is a squeaky exhaust valve. I think whatever butterfly valve is in there needs to be changed out, hopefully with a revised part from JLR since this car isn't all that old. The second is my passenger side window takes three tries to go up. I imagine that this is due to a faulty window obstruction sensor, as I've checked multiple times for actual obstructions. The third is some sort of buzzing sound coming from the rear driver's side of the car. Hopefully this gets sorted when they fix the squeaky exhaust. Other than that, the car's been a joy to drive. I'll keep you guys updated on what the dealer says. |
You could just keep the top down and crank the stereo... but a trip to dealer sounds better

The squeaky exhaust valve is a well known issue. Likely the muffler needs to be replaced. Should be a warranty item. The window may be just a programming issue. There's instructions in the owner's manual on how to program it.

I have made shure the valve hinges are cleaned and greased (with a grease that withstands the high temps) at the yearly service.
Seems to be an easy job. Not shure if that will take care of any future problems, but so far so good. |
Not quite sure what your window issue is, but the procedure for 'window reset' is in your manual.
|
If you have a '14 MY, make sure it's still under warranty and/or get it in soon. The earlier builds are nearing the end....
|
So I tried the window reset as described in the owner's manual, no dice. Dropped by the dealership and the service writer tried the same, still nada. So I'll be dropping the car off next Wednesday for who knows how long. He also said he'd never seen the squeaky exhaust before in person, but that there was a TSB out for it.
|
On mine, the reset procedure in the manual doesn't work either. Opening it all the way + pressing Open 5x, then Closing it all the way + pressing Close 5x works like a charm though.
Car's currently in the shop to diagnose the real problem-- I've had to reset the window 3 times in the last couple months. Service guy said it may be a battery thing. |
My car is officially off warranty today! Chickened out and bought 2 year "platinum" package even though years of Consumer reports has taught me never to purchase. After I put new Michelins on committed to at least one more year. If I trade in I get some of the money back. Bought from my Jag dealer but not Jaguar, it was crazy expensive when not done at time of purchase. No deductable, everything but normal wear included. Nothing of major expense has ever gone wrong with car as it is very low mileage, which got me a 10% discount.

Heard back from my Service Advisor a minute ago. Faulty window obstruction sensor was the culprit for the window not wanting to close. He said they've also ordered a new bearing for the exhaust, so I guess Jaguar got tired of replacing the entire system when it happens.

Hahaha, I suppose so. I'll grab the part number when I see the invoice.

Muffler bearing?!
Merlin's been had! I've used that exact part to yank a lot of chains in the past. I didn't realize so much time had gone by that we could start pulling that on a new generation of enthusiasts: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/muffler_bearing |
When I was in high school, I recall someone selling magnets with rubber bands - put it on your fuel line for an instant improvement in fuel economy!

Got the invoice today, the parts are a new bushing and spindle.
