Straight? Or E10? And I'm curious as to why when Jag says 91 min. I always put in 93, but it's also E10 to make it 93.

I think Jaguar specifies 91 because in many areas that's the best that's commonly available. The nearest 93 to me is about 25 or 30 miles away.

Macallan Whisky Maker’s Edition.

A top tier brand fuel will have the necessary additives to keep the engine happy. 91 AKI minimum might be specified, but 93 is preferable to offer a margin of safety, particularly if you have increased maximum boost with a pulley swap.

I wish I could readily get 93, but it's rare in these parts.

On the Scotch front I've been favoring Islay over Highland for a while, even though I've got highland roots. I'd been nursing a bottle of 1974 Macallan for a while but it's gone now, and I'm not willing to spend the $1000 to get another.

We use RON rather than AKI over here in Oz.
91 AKA = 95 RON, 93 AKI = 98 RON.
I very rarely use 95 RON, instead I pay a bit extra for 98 RON which is available everywhere except out donga, and the car seems to like it although that could be nothing but placebo effect.
Lately I have been using a lot of 100 RON (98 RON with 5% ethanol added) coz it's on sale at a servo handy to me and it's usually priced a little less than the 98.
The car feels a bit peppier with the 100 brew but not as smooth, with the occasional (but rare) hiccup or stutter or exhaust fart.

93

found Lucas helps some cars I had as far as mileage but ftype did not seem to care. Just happy with 93. I am sure it is good with 91i

The stock ECU tune is happy with 91 AKI/95 RON. If you have a tune for 93 AKI / 98 RON you get a tad more advance. In certain states, the winter blend has as much as 15% ethanol (Connecticut is one).

Remy Martin XO for me

I have the exact same view, glad to see someone confirm it. Mixing a gallon or two of E85 to make E15-20, even more so. Good power, but sounds harsh. Above E20 throws a lean code.

I wish I had a 91-94 octane E0 station near me, but we only have 87 as pure gasoline pump gas at a few high end stations.

So I am thinking of using pure 87 as a base and blending my own 91+ E0 from much more expensive 110 canned fuel.

Boostane or Octanium into an 87 pure gas base might be a similar path to a happy cat without fuss.

91

91 is typical in Az, but I use 93 whenever I travel and its available.

I know i'm going to feel the heat for this one, but I like a blend....Blue label all the way!!!

JIMLIGHTA 02-09-2019 07:10 AM

Has anyone compared 91-93 E10 to 91-93 E0?

Seems less alcohol runs much smoother and a lot stronger at the same rating, but isn't available near me above 87 due to cost.

Right, but when they say 91 min, do they mean pure 91, or 87 boosted to a 91 knock resistance equivalent by adding 10% alcohol?

I only have E10 available at a 91-93 equivalent. When I blend with E85 to make E20, there's some more power but with less refined, raspier noises and an occasional CEL.

It leads me to belive the engine needs the knock resistance but runs a lot better on gasoline, as specified (assuming 91 means gasoline) .

At nearly 2 bucks a litre...99 RON (5% Ethanol) is all my cat drinks on this side of the pond.

Gives nice sharp throttle response over other pump fuels and slightly better acceleration (may be placebo effect) and crackles and pops.

Islay Malt is the only whisky the driver drinks!

Here in the People's Republic, the kitty gets 93 which contains "up to" 10% alcohol.

When the driver contains up to 10% alcohol it is usually Bourbon; my current favorite being Jefferson's Ocean.
