Which wheels: Black Gyrodynes or Black Cyclone?

Hi everyone.

I'm having real issues deciding what wheels to go with my newly purchased F Type V6S Coupe.

I have gunmetal turbines now, but I think black rims will make the car a bit more aggressive.

What do you guys think?

Left: Gyrodynes Right: Cyclones

If you like the design of your current wheels, just have them powdercoated. Costs about $450.00 to have the old paint stripped, painted, and clear coat.

Gyrodynes vs Cyclones - too close to call. Six spoke vs five. The wheels on the right - Cyclones look better on that particular car due to the black pack trim.

I have the Gyrodynes powdercoated black and love the look, but if I were starting from scratch wheel-wise I'd go to a forged, lighter black wheel vs paying $2k for OEM wheels + powdercoating.

A lighter set of rims and the group buy rotors w/ Porterfield pads that put out less dust. I don't race at a track, but that much weight gone off the corners would definitely make a difference even just on the street.

I think black Gyrodynes would look great on your car. A third option might be the diamond turned black Gyrodynes, which would provide some contrast with your dark paint and tie in with your chrome trim.

I got my cyclones for $700 shipped and then spent $420 on powder coating. If you are patient, you might be able to get a similar deal. Much cheaper than forged.

Agree with everything Burt said in post #2.

Another Option - member FR500FT has been working with Vorsteiner and fitted some VF 103's. They are flow forged technology - gets you almost as light as forged rims at much lower cost. Fantastic looking wheel and good quality finish. Can be ordered in several colors. I opted for the graphite color (close to, but not quite black) for my M3 and love them. Search for his recent post with pics - I think they look great on the F type.

Finally, more urgent than a wheel change (I don't hate the ones you have) consider ditching the chrome - you can have the chrome trim pieces wrapped in black to get the black pak effect for a reasonable $$

Thanks for all the answers! I want to keep the car as OEM as possible and the quality of OEM wheels can not always be comprablec to aftermarket (even though they might look better).

Agree with the chrome trim. I will do a chrome delete together with the black rims.

Sure, I can powdercoat the existing ones black but I'm not very found of the style. I'm opting for Cyclones at the moment 😁

It is a really hard choice. The Gyrodynes look like they would be marginally easier to clean which is very high on my criteria. I think the Cyclones look a bit tight between the spokes which would be hard to get at and I hate banging my hand between spokes when I am washing the cars and my skin is all sensitive. But then I slightly prefer the look of the cyclones with their less spokes. All of this talk has made me hanker for new wheels but I've decided to get the Vorsteiners like those mentioned above, in black. That design ius similar to the OEM 19"s that I have (centrifuge) which are the easiest wheels to clean I've experienced

Yes, if not interested in powdercoating his current wheels, go with the Vorsteiners. Sorry, but all the factory wheels are fat heavy tanks like the stock rotors. If you can sell the stock rims, and the $$ is reasonable of course.
Good luck - beautiful ride OP.

If someone has current pics of the 20" Vs please post.

Gyrodynes for sure.

Here are my 21"s which are on their way after being coated. They dont come in 20"s

Nice! If on a budget, the gentleman with the convertible Firesand F-Type that drag races had a fantastic wheel - not forged - that is better than stock and less cost also. Looks like the Vorsteiners and 20".

I don't care for the Cyclones. I have black Tornados but would prefer the Gyrodynes

2 cents,
Dave
