Haha over on the AM forums its about 90% dislike and 10% like. That's coming from current AM owners. I know every new model takes a longggg time to grow on you when you own the previous gen of pretty much any car so we'll see how that ratio changes over the next year.

My overall thoughts: I like the rear, I like the interior, the engine and trans should be a nice solid setup. I hate the tiny front headlights, the unfinished exhaust, the open front grill will eventually grow on me. If Vorsteiner or similar company can do something about all 3 of those things I think it would make for a badass car.

 

Most times , it does take me time to warm up to any new car design. The Z8 and F-Type are the exception.

 

When you are replacing what is arguably one of the most beautiful automotive designs ever penned in the outgoing Vantage with a less than beautiful (aka ugly) replacement, no wonder it's going to take some time to "warm up" to it. The silhouette is lovely, but that frightening looking front is just horrible. Lexus finally has a rival in front end ugliness.

I pulled the trigger. The build quality is definitely better than Jaguar and at this price point it should be.

 

Nice colour, it all blends better with darker tones IMO. Love them or not (I love them depending on the colour) the new crop of Astons certainly make the superseded models look dated, though still pretty..

 

I agree, previous Astons were sensationally beautiful, though too deep into the luxury segment for my liking. Not a fan of that cat fish mouth.

 

 

I saw the dbs superleggera on the road a few weeks ago, in white. The front looked disproportionately large to the back, and the roof very flat, altogether like a whale shark, but strewth it was a horny looking car. I absolutely loved it.

 

It's usually the rear ends that designers struggle with to get looking aesthetically correct, but in this case they have succeeded in failing completely at the front end design as well...it's to Mazda MX5.
The interior looks (unlike most AM's) appears good quality and rather 'business class', just a shame it's got he Merc twisty, knobby thing.

As a kid I used to fantasise and draw cars with lights, both front and back that stretched across from one side to the other...this is a good attempt at the rear, but they should have tried it on the front IMO.
The front is too old fashioned, large headlight compared to the rear, and I think the rear LED strip would have been better straight, and not hugging the profile of the spoiler shape.

Would I like one...of course...

Do I like the look of it compared to the F-Type, NO WAY. The Jaguar is in a league of it's own for the price.

Is it a worthy upgrade to the F-Type...for some, maybe, but so is the price.

 

According to Ian Callum, the rear of the car is the only place a designer has true freedom because of all the pedestrian safety regulations that successive governments have introduced, in their infinite wisdom ....

I've always been a huge fan of AM. But I just don't like the new design. Especially the front. It just looks weird to me. Unfinished.

Looks are subjective. My dealer has 5 almost all some grey or black and they look ok in person. I think how you configure the trim colors and grill make a big difference. Every review seems to say this is a fantastic ride! I think this one is the right idea tho I prefer the side in body color and the trim in a flat dk grey they offer.

 

McLaren is way cooler and a better upgrade. 540C or 570S is what I would go for if I would switch.
