Drove both before buying my AWD. There's no wrong choice, just personal preference.

And Yes, the AWD does go sideways but in a different sort of way.

I'm glad the V8 R I have is AWD, it kicks in ~100 milliseconds as I recall from my research. Certainly quick in my experience. And, as the Salesman "warned" me, a Senior driver, "Oh you wouldn't want an R," implying it would be too much for me to handle. Once I found an R with AWD, in the colors and condition I wanted, I was all in! No regrets at all!

I think you paid less for your 2017 than I still owe on my 2016. Well done.
