Someone needs to launch and investigation into these results. I've owned a Jag for 8 years now and would take it over 99.9% of the cars above it (obviously, as I bought three now, if you include the LR4). I am not a statistician, but I am wondering if number of cars built vs.issues reported skews these results. I just haven't had that many issues with my cars, but did have the stereo issue out of the gate, so that would have likely generated a complaint, but not nothing I would base a car buying decision on. Before I bought the '11 XF SC (and cancelled a BMW 5 series order) I read this forum often, and I just didn't see there was really a serious quality issue over and above others. JLR still needs to improve interior fit and finish, but overall I have enjoyed owning said vehicles.

In my view initial quality is far less important than long-term quality, considering initial issues will all be fixed under warranty.
I haven't had my F-Type long enough to be able to comment on long-term quality, but issues like the OBDII port causing battery drain and the fuel filler neck causing premature pump shutoff are annoying if relatively harmless.

There's also no distinction here between "my speakers rattle sometimes" and "I broke down on the side of the road and had to be trailered to the dealer" - the latter of which we saw with multiple different Alfa Romeo Giulias being reviewed by the press.

I am on my 3rd set of pads and rotors and my 2nd brake booster 13k miles in. My windshield gasket also failed and I had rattle issues and scratched windows....

But I filled out my survey that the car was flawless (gotta protect that resale value lol)

I haven't bought a new car in almost 20 years and my Jag turned 58 last month. I don't usually call my Jag's issues problems; I call them "character".

Correction. Looks like this may not be your first Jag. Welcome to the F-Type family.

Have to agree with you here. I tend to keep cars for 10 years or longer. The F-Type - especially the first model year for the coupe - is likely a keeper for much longer than that
Now 4.5 years and 50K miles in, the worst problem I've had is condensation inside one of the headlamps, which as I learned later is not that unusual and actually quite normal, but the dealer replaced it without batting an eye anyway.
How a car holds together in the long run is far more important, but also far more difficult to survey as many don't keep their cars more than a few years these days.

Most cars are too boring to keep for long nowadays .... ;)

Yes, but if a new car retailing at $100K+ start having problems comparable to your 58 year old classic, than such new car is very clearly a lemon.

It was mentioned in another thread that high end luxury cars generate more complaints because there is a higher expectation. A Hyundai buyer is not nearly as likely to return to the dealer for a "rattle" or anything so minor as a Jaguar or Mercedes buyer. But what is sad is that the industry average is 93 complaints per 100 cars. Of all the other consumer products I've bought, home appliances, televisions, power tools, air conditioning systems, computers, etc., I don't think I've experienced more than maybe 10 complaints per 100 of anything brand new. I guess I'll just keep buying my luxury cars used and let everyone else deal with sorting out all of the initial quality issues along with the initial depreciation hit. ;)

I when I took my Jag in for a repair last week the service lanes were full......... of Land Rover RR and I was the only Jag!
