Default ‘95 xj6 tire change...

Hi there Jag community. Having a frustrating issue with my 1995 xj6 that is making me feel like a complete moron. Have had the car for a few years, absolutely in love with the old girl and getting used to the somewhat over-engineered quirks of her, however... trying to just take my wheels off to do some basic brake checking/maintenance. Original alloy rims, original lugs...with those damn covers. Have found plenty of tips for removing them if they are free spinning. My stupid question of the day is: do I need to take them off to loosen/remove the lugs or are they supposed to stay on? Factory wrench doesn’t seem to seat/grip properly with them on, no idea how to take them off or if I just need to use a bit more force seating the lug wrench. Any advice would be appreciated, and I’ll certainly be back with more stupid questions soon!

The shiny lug nuts covers stay in place

Use a 7/8" socket if you're not already doing so

Cheers

Default Fantastic

Thanks DD, I appreciate the help. I’ll be fiddling more with that in the morning then.
