Looking for suggestions how to drain fuel in X308?
Looking for suggestions how to drain fuel in X308? I have a xj8 that have very old fuel for years? And I’m looking for suggestions on how to dump the fuel. My first stop was to disconnect the filter put a hose on it and cycle the key to drain the tank. But I was wondering if that would give it a code or some kind of a malfunction later on? thanks
My XJ8 had gas that was 6 months old when I got it running. First, I changed the fuel filter by the left rear shock. Then I added a fuel conditioner and stabilizer before adding another 10 gal. of fresh high grade gas. If you are sure you have really bad gas, you may want to look at YouTube to remove the tank ("replacing the fuel pump"). You may also be able to siphon the gas either thru the filler cap or inside the trunk space by disconnecting the hose to the tank. If you use the ignition to pump gas out you may want to fashion a connector hose from the fuel rack test fitting straight into a bucket. Be sure to have fresh gas available to 'sweeten' the tank, and ventilate well. Good luck.
This gasoline is questionable and four years old . It’s only got about an eighth of a tank but I was thinking if I disconnect the fuel filter hooked a hose on it and if the pump is working I could use the key to pump it out? Might have to turn it on and off a couple times? Then I thought after that is done with new gasoline I could let it go to I can go to the Schrader valve And let some of that bleed out until that line is clean? I’m just not sure if it’s gonna sit off all kinds of different codes on it? Thanks
0Good point I once had a window in the driver door last winter and it would not roll down for some reason? The forum said take the cables off hold them together.it worked....I am going to see if it will drain the tank?thanks
