I have ONE question about my '95 XJS and my '96 XJ6 (X300) Vanden Plas:
Is the ONLY WAY to "reset/orient" the ECU to O2 sensors and Throttle Position Sensor (reset throttle angle) is to use a factory Jaguar IDS scan tool? I think "yes" and would like confirmation.
Thank you,
Roger

Hello all new posters! I know 13 pages is quite a bit to read, but all of the scanner information in the first post of this thread is still very current. That list, among individual threads started specifically to address a unique situation, I would consider a great resource and give you some confidence in selecting a suitable device. DR, the responses throughout this thread addresses those equipment options that do read more than JUST the minimum required engine and transmission codes.
good luck in your search!

BAFX scanner from Amazon, $23.99 ; theoretically ELM327 compatible.
Torque Pro app for Android, $4.99
Works great on my 2006 XKR for engine codes. Cannot read any ABS / DSC / Chassis codes (or if it does, I cannot figure out how).
Engine needs to be turned on for app to connect to the OBD unit.

I purchased my OBDII scanner from Sears, and although it is a Craftsman, model # 87702, it is in fact an INNOVA 3100g. Reads all the OBDII codes and Freeze frame info. Also does the ABS scan deal, but haven't had a chance to check that part out. Kept gettng "Check rear lights" warning and "Check Engine" warning lights. Rear light problem was a bad Brake Light Switch, which when replaced also fixed the cruise control. Check Engine was a bad Mass Air Flow Sensor. Replaced that also and so far no more lights.
Use is on a 2005 XK8 and XJ8L.
Very satisfied so far.........

ELM327 with Torque Pro works on my 2010 XKR. However, I have found some glitches that caused some panic at first. After disconnecting it and restarting the car then plugging it back in things are back to normal. Best practice is to remove when done and reinstall after engine is started again. Not something that can be left plugged in all the time

Launch Creader VIII with 2002 X-type. Reads engine, transmission, ABS, and SRS. Lots of live data, from the usual engine stuff to transmission- gear selected, current gear ratio, temp, shift solenoid feedback. ABS- individual wheel speed, brake hydraulic pressure, steering wheel angle, priming valve. SRS- seat occupancy, relays, just to name a few. Supports 1994-2014 XJ, 2008-2014 XF, 1997-2015 XK, 2014 F type, 1999-2008 S type, 2001-2009 X type. I've only used on X-type, but I could look up a particular model to see what datastreams are supported if any one has questions. Updates are free. Attached some screen shots.
