Oil change

I would like to know if it is better to change the oil before a winter storage or after in the spring when the car goes back on the road?

I suggest before.

That way all the "contaminants" in the old oil are not sitting doing wierd stuff during the lay up.

Can't fault that logic.

I will add that later model Jaguars run much cleaner than older models. The oil in my XJ6 and XJ12 Series 1's was always black by service. The straight six XJ40 and X300 were similar but to a lesser degree. However the oil in my current XK always looks just as clean when drained at service.

Engine design has improved with closer tolerances as has oil technology (although I'm not encouraging yet another oil debate!) and these together with engine management systems ensure cleaner running.
