Old style heater and choke cables
For a non-Jaguar project I am making some new control cables.
How can I create the neatly coiled ends as seen in the picture? I'm sure there's a tool for this but I can't find the right name or combination of words to find one !

Cheers and thanks

Doug, what you can do is take a steel rod the diameter of the inner part of the coil that you want to create. drill a hole through the rod (big enough to slide the cable through). From there, you can roll the cable on to the rod (best to have a large handle on each end of the rod and be able to press the rod down against say an anvil to make sure the coil remains tight). You can then make the coil you need. To remove, simply cut where the cable went into the rod and slide off the end. You make the start of the coil by taking a pair of round nose pliers and put the reverse bend in. Yes, there is a tool, it is a 2 piece contraption. This has a metal rod with a small hook on one end and then a tube that goes over the rod that will slide down to where the hook is. You then twist the outer tube and it will bend the end of the cable around the rod. You just have to figure out how much cable needs to stick out the end unless you have extra and can cut it off.
Thanks for the reply.
Any idea what the tool is called or where to buy one?

Doug, this may be what you are looking for: https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-K-D...8AAOSwyvJerK6N
Not sure what size spiral you are looking for, but this will atleast make a spiral and give you a starting point.

Thank you !
I didn't by that specific tool but your suggestion started me on the right track - "Looping Pliers"
Dozens of choices out there. I ended up buying looping pliers and a kit containing several types of "wire forming fliers"
Cheers
